Only because how many Americans actually go to Korea?? Or English speakers for that matter. I mean is the situation in Korea economically bad or what cause it seems like they are coming over here deep. Like I'm pretty sure they will be the largest Asian minority in the country. But I know in many of Asian countries you get better jobs for speaking English...however in many Asian countries everyone already knows how to speak English. I think in South Korea's case its more the latter as kwfong said b/c as much as they say are proud they are so led by everything Western at time...hmm. I could be wrong. This is really weird to me. Even though I fully supporting the learning of the English language but why would government agencies, i.e. Jail expect TOEFL scores, r they expecting an avalanche of foreign criminals. Or hv they just realised the importance of English. Or could it b a typical cultural behaviour of "afraid to lose out or being left behind" in competitive Korea.
