lol after listening i cant help but comment.. the chinese lyrics are just too cheesy and the lines are not exactly ’smooth’.. i bet it wont sound good even if a chinese sings it haha.. i can only understand hankyung and shiwon.. but i’ll say its a good effort.. are they gonna perform that for the taiwan music awards? i kinda hope they just stick to the korean version hehe.. but fans are gonna enjoy it no matter what :p

Well Super Junior Does have Hankyung to help them but yo!! Sorry for offending anyone but that is the gayest video I have seen of them. Like I am not trying to bash them but they were wearing eye liner and had lip-gloss on and that shit was sparkling and gold. Oh man I have never seen Donghae look so feminine.

at first when i heard the song, i was like…wtf??!! i couldnt understand a word of chinese…including hangengs part..cuz of his accent…

and then after watching the subtitled mv, i was like, “ooohh…so thats what theyre saying!! haha!!”

you can’t really blame their bad chinese. at least they tried! the don’t have time to learn the language and when they do…its useless!

i’m sure they won’t sing this version at the golden melody awards…if i was there, i’d be like wttf!! and the ppl in the audience might think they really suck…so its not good to give a bad impression since theres so many good artists there!!

they did sound rather strange. i think i can explain why they were singing so strangely (the accent thing is obviously an accent thing and not anything else – seems like they need to go back to chinese class). i’m a linguistics major and one thing i’ve frequently noticed with song lyrics is that whenever a language version (whether it’s english to japanese or something else), the lyrics are either shortened or lengthened. of course, they always get changed to some degree (in the case of utada hikaru – hikari got a complete facelift when it was turned into simple&clean, the lyrics are almost unrecognizable to the original/japanese version). i’ve also started studying mandarin, and in terms of its structure, mandarin is both more complex and more simple than some other languages. structural/grammatical differences can increase or decrease the amount of syllables in a phrase depending on the language. if we take the english phrase “don’t leave” or “don’t go,” both are only two syllables long. if you break them down, you have “do” “not (negative)” and the verb (go/leave). that’s three things shortened to two syllables. in korean on the other hand, those same two phrases become “deo-na-ji-ma” and “ga-ji-ma.” instead of two syllables, we get “don’t go.” so, the reasons why they’re sound strange (other than the accent, which is self-explanatory) is because:
a. the lyrics when translated are much shorter by syllable count (which results in either changing the pattern of syllable per note, adding more words, changing the lyrics, or drawing out the words)
b. the lyrics were changed. and simplified.
i’m korean by racial heritage (i understand it pretty well, but ask me to write a 1 page essay in korean and i’m screwed) and from what i can understand from the chinese lyrics, the lyrics are not the same.
in other words, whoever did the lyrics for the chinese version either needs to do a better job or should be sent packing.

this isn’t all that unusual though. have you ever listened to the korean version of “listen to my heart” ? they matched the korean version lyrics to the music so badly that it makes the ears bleed. it has to do with how you spread a word over parts of the music. in boa’s case, it was done very very badly so that her singing ended up sounding rushed in some places and out of place in others. fortunately, that doesn’t seem to have happened to her again (at least for the japanese and korean versions of her songs, i can’t really speak for the chinese versions).

When I first heard it I thought it was weird, but after listening it to the second time, I come to realize that although their accent IS there, they sang the words clearly and it’s not hard to understand. They’re actually not that bad.

I actually think Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Yesung, and Ryeowook are really good.

Trust me, I’ve heard MUCH worse Chinese…really, much much worse. At least I can understand most of them!

Haha Hankyung (Han Geng) has no problem at all! He IS chinese.

Although I love love LOVE Heechul to death, his lacks language skills…I think his pronunciation was probably the worst out all of them. Some of them actually have quite fluent chinese!

i think the original 13 members did pretty well on their recording of U in chinese… that was probably the first time some of them even tried to speak chinese since U was a long time ago so u can’t really make fun. at least they tried

Hey That’s just cruel….Super Junior Oppaduel aren’t that bad in Chinese….but I agree Hee Chul Oppa was a bit…I think Sung Min Oppa was pretty good and The mebers in Super Junior-M are pretty awesome as well. btw The girl in Super Junior’s U mv is wtf…how ugly -.- I like the girl in Super Junior M’s Mv much better she’s a lot prettier
