Think Super Junior has no talent?!

After reading your post, i am so confident why they shouldn’t get the daesang. Seems like all they know is dance, dance some more and act cute.
Their singing skill is somewhat extremely limited and only one-two members can REALLY sing.
Kibum, as an ACTOR, we all know why he’s being put in Suju. Morrrrrrr (highschool) female fan, pleaseeeee.
And Heechul is no good singer. He can yell, but he can’t sing. We all know how well he did in his duet with Yangpa. But i quite like his rock-infuence voice. He should go solo for some rock band.

Honestly, I think they are ALL talented in their own ways (whether it be comedy, singing, dancing, acting, MC-ing, DJ-ing and etc.) BUT they (as a group) are definitely not meant to be “artists”. That’s why I always referred to them as “idols”. There is a very big difference between “idols” and “artists”. And sadly to say, at this rate, SuJu will always remained as just “idols”.

Also i forgot to add, why compare us to them? We’re obviously not famous and we never had training (well most of us). It’s like saying oh you think Michael Jordan isn’t that great of a basketball player, why don’t you go one on one with him and see what happens. Of course we avg people are no where going to be able to beat Jordan. (Just an example we all know micahel is the best at what he did, but suju is not the BEST at what they do) But the fact is from what people hear in music and their experience, they find that Suju is nothing but mediocre. When people say suju is lacks talent they obviously aren’t comparing themselves to suju, but to the array of entertainers out there and the ones they listen too. But apparently you seem to take things way to personally when some say anything about your beloved IDOLS.

there is a difference between talent and having charisma. Suju members have charisma but they lack natural talent and because of that,they rely on other people to make them look good. They are also intelligent, but you can’t consider them as artists because like mentioned before, they rely on others to make them look good.

BBoy Hong-10 has a natural talent and passion for dance…and works very hard at it. He doesn’t spread himself out to things he have no talent for…like singing. He also has his own bboy style and it’s recognized as his own rather than some choreographer who taught him it.

That’s talent….being able to rely on yourself and what you have to offer rather than let the suits pretend to show fans what you have.

Super Junior are simply entertainers and nothing more. They are manufactured pop stars who can be used to market towards little girls. ..but that’s not a bad thing. They seem like good guys, but it is what it is…and what they are not is talented.

I’m an admirer of the guys in the group…and there songs are more my style then say…DBSK.

As long as they stay a 13 member group their talents wont be recognized. For many reasons–Less camera time for the ones with “shy” personalities. The sub-group’s popularity will go up because fans will get to focus more on specific members and grow an attachment to them. They should do appearances as the sub-groups but then tour together with the 13+1.

HeeChul-He’s a personality. People get paid to be themselves. Like hosts/MC’s…that is a talent…you try to keep the attention of thousands just by talking.

Siwon–when he’s 30 will be known as a great actor, when he’s 40 will be known as a great actor, and so on…This man will only look more and more manly/hotter with age.

Siwon is a legend in the making…and that is a completely unbiased opinion. (I have no romantic interest in him)

if you strip them of all their talents…they’ll still be left with one important one.

I’m sorry…I like SuJu but I can never see myself as an avid fan. As I’ve said before, the only thing really special about SuJu is the amount of members–there’s no wow factor when it comes to their singing or dancing ability.
There’s really kinda sorta no point in even making a post like this as it is going to be extremely biased. Of course I was concerned, but everyone gets into car accidents whether or not their serious…that really has nothing to do with his talent.
The point is that not everybody is going to like SuJu and in comparison, there are a bunch of other boy groups with less than 13/14/a kadrillion members that have way more talent as a whole.

Before I start, please don’t take any of this as a put down. This is just how I feel and this is how I view and judge things when it comes to labeling them as talent.

Like I have said before, I won’t say they don’t have talent or skill, they must have at least a minimal amount jsut to get by… but are these qualities of talent enough to call yourselves artsits?

Do you have any more vids of these b-boy skills? South Florida, like SoCal and NY are filled with b-boys and gals. I hang out wiht too many of them, and even I started breakdancing. I’d like to see what they’ve got. After watching the two, I will say they have some pretty nice old school moves. If I could see them do a whole (freestyle) routine, and not just one move, I think I’d be highly impressed.

These may be all things that not every body can do, but a lot still can. I’m still just not convinced that they are anything special or more than just a group of “cute”/”good looking” semi-talents formed togetehr to make fangirls go wild. I prefer SNSD over them, but even I know to some extent that not all of them are talented. The only one with REAL talent and dedication that is visible right now is HyoYun’s dancing skillz.

Playing an instrument though, I must admit is a plus. Siwon may not be awesome at the drums, but I guess it counts if you can even play it at all. Writing lyrics is too. And until I see those awesome dancing skills and compare them to others, I may still be spectical.

Rocketfuel, I agree with him. They’ve got charisma and drive. So I will consider them as IDOLS. Like Morning Musume. Yeah, they have a few talented memembers, but they aren’t OVER the top, but they are a fun as hell group to watch. I guess it all depends on what you consider is good enough and what you consider HORRIBLE.

can someone here name a boyband in the kpop industry with a talent?! there isn’t one!! everyone grows up learning different skills. even tablo of epik high isn’t a talented person. he grew up learning english as his 2nd language and now he is this crazy hip-hop guy in a group! bigbang has no talent either! all they can do is sing, dance, and write lyrics but they weren’t born to do that! it’s all skills!! ft island wasn’t born to play the instruments either, they learnt to play it at a young age!! someone like se7en, who’s not in a group, is called an “artist” but is he really one?! no, he isn’t cuz he’s just like every other person in the kpop industry!

i really don’t wanna compare suju to any other groups, especially to the groups i mentioned, because i am a fan of all those groups too (i’m actually a fan to a lot of groups and solo’s!) because u can never compare a group of different people to a group of other different people. heechul doesn’t get paid to act on or off stage. he is a guy that likes to have everything his way cuz he’s just that rebellious!!

I’m not a really big fan of Super Junior to be honest with you. Although granted some of the boys have great personality like Heechul, Shindong and KangIn, they are not good enough to be that famous and have all the attention and awards so far. I don’t think Heechul can sing that well. When he duets with yangPa, it was a disaster, his voice can not reach a high note at all. you can blame it on the nerve and everything. But the fact is that the performance was not long ago, and if until now, he can not overcome his stage fright or nerve or whatever reason that the fan believe in, maybe he is not good enough to be a singer. Plus he is not that good of an actor either. I think she should just stick to be a TV personality like HaHa. A lot of other member are like that. And Ki Bum, really, if he is not scouted to be a singer why put him in a singing group. I think they just take advantage of his “killer Smile”, and i hate it. He has zero personality, he is so shy that if without his appearance there is no way you would notice him in that group. i know it is not his fault, but maybe for his own good, he should just stick to be an actor, he has to work really hard though, because his acting skill is just average.
They all dance great, maybe they should be back up dancers for some other great artist, and let the people have the voice to be singers.

what you see as “old school moves” are the foundations of bboy. It’s like learning the ABC’s…you can’t learn advanced English without knowing the basics.

A lot of people can learn how to break dance, but for a lot of people…it does not come easily. For those who can learn it quite quickly are the talented ones…and the ones who can make it their own and change it, are the winners.

But being talented is different from working hard to be better…and talent doesn’t go anywhere unless you work hard so you go somewhere.

Suju maybe entertaining to watch but just because they aren’t naturally talented doesn’t make them any less entertaining. Even with Boa, she admits she’s a manufactured idol on CNN, but she’s smart enough to admit she’s not doing everything on her own….and because of her modesty, I respect her and her ability to execute what people plan out for her.

Overall, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying what super junior has to offer because their life’s story is part of whom they are….but after that, it’s not about talent.

from what i understand from ur post, i think ur trying to say that we shdn’t put them off as another manufactured group just because of watever reasons as they have their abilities too and work really hard? but the fact remains..which group/artist hasn’t done those stuff or possess those necessary skills to get where they are.. which group/artist doesnt have a sob story behind success? donghae isn’t the only in the industry to sacrifise his personal life just so he can be successful and do his dad proud.

i like suju..but i think they are just normal… they are a great marketing gimic n i fell for it..haha.. anyone can be an idol given the right marketing/manufacturing/makeover in my opinion. but it takes someone with an extra oomph/x factor to be a star which i do not think suju has, much as i like them. they do not deserve anymore criticism than any other grps/artist but they do not deserve anymore lauding as well..

I mean, I wasn’t really sure of whether they deserved that “Artist of the Year” award, but I found it very offensive for people to say that they contribute nothing to the art of music. Even to be where they are within SM, they had to take actual classes about singing and dancing and what not. & they obviously have some kind of talent or skill because of the many SM trainees, they were chosen to debut. Not only that, but SM kept them for a long time as trainees. I also read somewhere that Ryeowook and, I think, Gyuhyun were taking music classes in college. If they don’t have a really significant amount of talent, they at least have that much in skill skill. I really do think that they have both. Am I making sense here?

I like SUJU but I’ve honestly always taken them as entertainers..idols.. They make ppl laugh like mad..I love their shows..but..I’m sorry..I don’t take them as true artists..

Heechul can’t sing very well… don’t be a blinded fan..pls..

that’s kinda…….awkward……….. Eeteuk doesn’t sing well, Kangin does. Eeteuk got nasal voice and he can’t control high pitch well. And Donghae and Shiwon often got the first few lines in song, coz their voice usually crack after dancing.

Kibum is good at acting and rapping. But he definitely cannot sing or dance well. He always repeated his solo movement *hand waves* *hand waves* and he almost never got a line in songs. In fact the whole 2nd album I think he only got 2 lines. ……uhm yeah, awkward

I totally agree here. Michelle, if the point of your post was to see the POV of a die-hard fan, there really wasn’t a point in making this post at all. And as for naming a KPop boy group with real talent I can say full heartedly without being a bit biased that Big Bang and DBSK are just two examples. Big Bang composes lots of their own music, they’re all kick-ass dancers, every single one of them can sing and dance, AND every single one of them can hold their own solo. DBSK are pretty much the same–maybe because there are less members we notice their talent more, maybe. But it seems to me that the number is what makes up for their lack of spectacular talent. MY point is that having no talent isn’t the problem–they just don’t have enough. They’re a group of entertainers with a gimmick (sob-stories, dedication, and good looks) and people looking for straight-up talent aren’t buying that.
@sLaVe and Rocketfuel: I stand on pretty much the same grounds as far as dancing is concerned. For me, I won’t say I was born with talent but I did pick up dancing by myself (‘cept for the ballet part which I went to an academy for) and I’m proud of myself for coming as far as I have. So from my POV when I’m watching a couple good dance moves, that just isn’t enough for me–I’m not convinced by that.
Nobody in training is having an easy time, but there have been artists with more talent and skills coming out of training.
In reality, this is just really a post for a blog….if you weren’t trying to prove that SuJu has more talent than they’re credited for, then there’s just really truly no point.

I’m not so sure about Heechul’s singing, have you heard and seen his duet with Yangpa before? It wasn’t good at all. But he is good at acting. All 13 of them have different talents which makes them a unique group. I don’t have anything against Super Junior, and I think their fun to watch.

Michelle – Well I think writing lyrics and music can count as a talent. Yeah, dancing is a skill, but there’s some people who have been dancing vigorously without anyone ever teaching them. It’s like first nature. Skill to me is when someone teaches you how to do it, or you watched someone and learned it. But I still believe there are something things you can aquire, even later on in life, that you didn’t know you could do- thus becoming a talent.
Hmm… well because Se7en is said to write some of his own songs and choreograph some of his on dances, wouldn’t that be considered an artist? Since what he is doing is an art, and he’s the one creating it?
They may not want to be viewed as, but in my standars (as well as others) they are just idols to me. Of course there has to be an artist award. There’s people out there who creat most of their own songs (lyrics, beats/instrumentals, production, etc) and or choreograph their own stuff. Big Bang’s G-dragon has been known as a rapper since he was 11 in YG. He’s been writing music for other artists not even in YG. I think that can count as talent.
SINGING is one that is definitely questioned as a talent or a skill. Because even if you were taught how to sing BETTER, doesn’t mean you couldn’t sing to begin with. And because you began as a good singer already, would you count that as talent or skill?

rocketfuel – Of course! I admire old school moves. I was just stating, they are pretty okay with old school bboy moves. I can’t do any of that crazy stuff, as hard as I try. I can’t even perfect the freeze and six step at times! I actually sometimes prefer old school moves rather than the super crazy moves. I consider old school moves dance, I consider the new crazy ones… just moves. All still very cool though.
Exactly another reason why I admire BoA, modesty. I know she doesn’t write all her stuff, sometimes the stuff she writes are also cowritten with someone else. And yes, like you said, hard work pays off. I think hard work and talent go together… I mean, there’s always room for improvement from minimal talent.

Like bisco said, even SM had meant for them to just be an entertainment group.

All in all, this is probably just a base of opinion and view. Even Mataku provided us with his opinion of who is the singer and not a singer and already it contridicts with what was written. So maybe same goes for what you view on who is talented and skilled.

i agree with everyone’s comments and opinions here. i justed wanted to get my point across because lots of people got me heated because all they do is sit in front of their computers and read about the entertainers and then go diss them, instead of taking the time to know them a little bit.

i agree, the yangpa performance was horrible!! but there might’ve be a reason behind it…maybe tight schedule, not enough practise, who knows! and i also agree that the boys don’t deserve the “artist of the year” award. and i’m sorry i got overheated with this and the mkmf post…maybe it’s the stress from school…so much going on in life too…so i think i wrote the posts at the wrong time…

They have talent, but singing is not one of them.

My issue with them is the fact the band is so large. In my opinion, and I’ve said this before, if you don’t sound/look at least half decent with 12 other people backing you, there’s something horribly wrong.

I don’t hate them or anything, I’m quite neutral…though I do think Artist of the Year is a bit of a stretch.

And about the auditions…well, you don’t really have to be able to do something yourself, do you, to be able to tell what’s good and what’s not? You don’t have to be an absolute master at painting to tell a good painting, from a mediocre one, from a terrible one, do you? I don’t think people necessarily have to be singers to be able to judge singing.

DT – Though I agree with you completely about songwriting and choreography takes intelegence and more, please try to stay away from rude comments or accusations.

IT’S THE WAY THINGS ARE SAID that make writers offended, not really what you say (because that is your opinion). And honestly, we most of the time can care less what you say unless we have something to say back.

I’ve read what you’ve commented before on here and popseoul, and I know you’re not a bad guy. I actually agree with some of your points, and we’ve argued and agreed on a lot of things. don’t forget heechul can sing and play piano at the same time! i saw a clip of him singing the winter sonata song while playing piano.

Who can sing in my dictionary? and they are what i leblieve as “TALENT” suppose to be:

1. Every single member of Big Mama.
They are extremely gifted with their vocal ability. They are real SINGER, real ARTIST. They writes songs, and most of the time they arrange the music by their ideas. They not be eye-candy but their harmonize-ability is uncomparable.

2. Yangpa
She may seem cheesy through her ballad lyric, but don’t take her lightly. Yangpa can sing, and her live performance was flawless, as perfect as the studio version.

3. SG Wannabe
Each member’s vocal is extremely strong, especially Jinho. He may be ugly (not to me), he may crunch his face when he sings, but i don’t care, the sound come out from his mouth is very deep and moving.

4. Wanted/V.O.S
They are here for their perfect vocal. Their live perf. were never fail to please my ear.

5. Vibe.
What can you expect more? They write almost all their songs. Always sing live. Awesome singers and composers at the same time

But in no size or shape can I see Suju fit in the real-talent-singer field. They are pop-idol group, created to win their fan by their look and their charisma.
They are fun to watch but painful to hear.
They don’t suit with the title singer/artist of the year whatsoever

I love SUJU and they are talented. SM just doesn’t show it for them.

I consider them as artists. I consider them as artists on whatever they can do and I can’t, lol.

They don’t particular have that great talent in singing, but they definitely contain that art of dancing. Eunhyuk and Hankyung are very professional dancers in their own styles.

And I’m sure with time they can improve. After all, a lot of them aren’t trained for many years unlike SM’s other artists. (Xiah Junsu was trained for six years!) Kyuhyun was only trained for about a year, Hankyung only 3, Shindong and Ryeowook only several months. It was maybe a bit too early to see Suju accept the daesang… but I personally think they deserved it, just for the sake of showing improvement in comparison with their music released last year.

i totally agree wit inok. i’m a semi fan of suju.. their okay…but seriously you elves take things so personal sometimes. They have many talents but some of them can’t sing. Someone (perhaps you?) posted this in my Super Junior community on livejournal. Dear, aside from the fact that your entry is filled with misinformation, the worst one has got to be when you say that Kyuhyun died and was brought back to life with a defibrillator. Kyuhyun’s heart worked just fine and never missed a beat, thank you. Please do not spread random info for the sake of defending them. April was a month of chaos and confusion: do not trust everything you read from back then. And this is coming from a FAN.

well, i’m commenting on suju ^^ they surprise me everyday and i like that! i didn’t know about sungmin and his nunchunks^^ *ha* hecka adorable i don’t really care what other people think about suju but sometimes it does bother me when they talk negative >_

well being a fan of Super Junior i agree with only SOME of those facts.

not even majority of suju can sing. only about 2 or 3 of THIRTEEN can sing. i think that’s kinda sad but all sorts of people have thier own talents. not all people can be multitalented. not all people can be born with that kind of ability.
like for example eunhyuk can sing & rap but not really a good vocalist. kyuhyun is a GREAT singer but not a good dancer. the reason they put suju together is because they all have something the other person doesn’t & i dont think there’s anything wrong with that. its like saying that they all complete each other. so please dont criticize and say they dont have talent cause im pretty sure SM wouldn’t choose guys out of THOUSANDS who dont have talent.

hello don’t u see what is happening to us. We’re going crazy over a boyband that has no clue about us but strange thing is…we know almost everything about them, everybody wants personal space why cant Super Junior? They all got different talents OF COURSE!!!That’s the reason SM wanted them as a group but not an official group. Why do u think they are in their seperated ways now.
