This blog is anti-soshi so there’s not even a point to asking people what they thought, really. It’ll all just come out as bile.
Honestly, though, I really thought Soshi did a good interpretation of Tell Me, all things considered. WG’s seemed the weaker of the two and that’s probably because they’ve been focusing on So Hot and didn’t have as much time to rehearse (as compared to Soshi who are technically on a hiatus and would have more time). Both performances, though, really prove that WG’s style and Soshi’s style are completely different. They’re both entirely valid, though.
It’s pretty obvous what most people here are going to say. Listen to Kissing You again sung by WG, did you think it was THAT great? None of you think of it as weak? Well of course, being the biased fans that you guys are…
Well on SNSD, I think Sunny’s voice… was really unbareable. And Tiffany did over do her part with those faces. And rapping, Yuri was weak, so of course YooBin owns in rapping.
Lets just say that this is the first time in a LONG time since I heard a great performance of Tell Me vocal-wise.

Soshi’s version of “Tell Me” was so much better. No question.
WG’s version of “Kissing You” was okay. They should have performed longer. Some of the high notes were kinda wtf but they did a good job anyway considering only Sun Ye and Ye Eun can actually SING sing.
honestly…i think those defending adamantly defending WG is being biased. if you look at both performances, its clear that snsd was stronger… and i agree, that was the first time, i heard tell me with strong vocals. i mean, yes, they have greater numbers however only about 6 sang…so it practically evens out. and yuri was a suprisingly good rapper. i thought she was pretty good. given the fact that shes not TRAINED to rap, like yoobin. i mean, WG was good but i wish i saw them come out stronger, though they are probably overwhelmed with everything else going for them right now.
agreed with cutiexstuff. Nobody is bashing WG so I don’t know why WG fans are going all out against SNSD. I think the one who sang Taeyeon’s lines was excellent and So Hee was really cute singing a song like Kissing You (and fairly good vocals from her!). I felt that the other girls looked very mature though and hence made Kissing You a bad song choice for them~ Even though their average age is younger than SNSD, it felt a little like grown women playing dress up. Some of their voices were quite raw as well. Makes me curious how it would’ve been if they had performed GG.
On the other hand, the SNSD girls’ vocals were spot on and for someone whose training probably didn’t involve any rapping, Yuri did very well. Problem with SNSD would be their expressions but I don’t think it took away from the performance too much.
Wow didn’t think this would turn into antoher WG vs. Soshi thing ~ I was just going to comment on the title of the article, “WG Doin parody of Sushi” because it’s not a parody – a parody is something that is done to mimic or poke fun at someone. And that title is quite misleading…seeing as they weren’t making fun of SoShi and SNSD did a perf with a WG song as well.
I think both groups did each other justice – for Kissing You it may seem that they had a lot of background vocals but if you listen carefully those BG vocals were prepared from the original SNSD version (at least that’s what I think) so they powered over Sohee’s voice which is why it didn’t sound like she was singing that much.
It was weird seeing Kissing You performed with so little people…and vice versa for Tell Me with 9 girls haha.
Everyone is BIASED so stop throwing craps at other people. Both of them did well, you can’t really say that this group is better than this group if you haven’t been REALLY following them and watching all of their performances. Let’s be honest, SNSD fans will always praise SNSD and WG fans will always praise WG. So deal with it!
And you must be blind that nobody is bashing WG. Go over to youtube and soshistalker and you’ll see tons of them.

And for the person who said of course Kissing You sounded weaker cuase there aren’t 9 girls. It wasn’t only the chorus that was weak. I think every solo line was consider weak. Except Ye Euns. So having 9 girls has nothing to do with the song being weak.
Yuri’s rap really wasn’t that great for some people to spazz over about [especially on soompi]. In fact, I thought Hyoyeon does it better. But not much people even give credit to her. Either way, nothing compares to the original rap.

i agree this comment. lol Now that I’ve heard the two groups sing each others songs, it makes the difference in vocal ability of the groups a lot more obvious to me. Not saying WG did bad though since I liked their performance.
Dude, the post was aptly titled “WG performing parody of SNSD” because that is exactly what it looked like. WG showed how uber-nauseating SNSD’s song truly is. Poor WG had to act extra fake and flail around unsavory plastic lollipops to produce the perfect rendition of SNSD’s Kissing YOu. So just be grateful that WG was determined to portray SNSD so accurately, unlike SNSD who decided to cringe the entire time and fake their way through Tell Me. Not that I expected much from SNSD.

In my opinion, I think both groups did really well.

Exactly. This comparison of songs is probably the best evidence that WG is a better group. Even though WG’s singing is not good at live performances (yet) and SNSD have the stronger vocals… being singers is more than just the voice. Even though WG had to do that ridiculas dance, I couldn’t help but love the song because they looked like they were happy and having fun. SNSD looked like they were forced to be happy (i.e. Tiffiny), not smiliing when dancing and overall having an attitude problem.

Upon my acute analysis, Tiffany seems to have a split personality disorder. Her evil twin seemed to be fighting to break free from the innocent mask she wears. Her contorted facial expressions during the performance show signs of pride, jealousy and insolence. Might I add that she is not mentally stable or fit. SM must be notified that it is too risky to allow Tiffany to continue to restrain her true identity while putting up a fake image. Her cute act may be to lure fans to her dungeon so that she can EAT them!

both entertaining performances. wonder girls was clean with their choreography. sunye and ye eun were great singing even if they didn’t hit the high notes. i did not even recognize yoobin. the simple, cutesy, baby pink doesn’t really work for them. possibly because we’re so used to seeing them get glamourized.
soshi’s choreography was messy but a couple of the girls singing made up for it. i think one of them was junsu’s gf? she sang great! and whoever sang sohee’s first part and sunye’s part in the chorus sang well.
the first thing that caught my eye was the yoona screencap. i don’t understand how she gets scouted to be the main girl in MVs when she has no character in her face. sooyoung looked REALLY pretty in the performance.
SNSD’s sound is so boring. I think WG’s overall sound is better.

wg’s songs are love, but vocally live, sunye and yeeun couldn’t hit the high notes at all. i heard the background track on when sohee was singing and she still sounded flat. yoobin’s vocal cords are strained so i can’t commment. and sunmi was cute but her voice is too deep for kissing you. i actually like it when they sing tell me.
overall, snsd killed wonder girls. if you don’t feel the same, then you are either 1)tone deaf, or 2) in denial. but of course you don’t feel the same, because shenyuepop uses snsd bashing to gain hits and the antis just flock here like blind and lost sheep. : )

But I must share a disturbing dream that I had after watching Sushi’s traumatizing performance.
I was sitting next to the fireside smoking my pipe when I fell into a deep sleep. These painted women were none other than members of SNSD, and oh! the horror, they started peeling off the walls of these cottages and approaching my frozen figure. These 9 deathly silhouettes grabbed onto my arms and legs and pulled me into one of the homes. They tied me to a chair, then started singing “Kissing You” with those ghastly hollow voices coming from the depths of the inferno. I was thrown into an epileptic seizure as the 9 girls gave me a lap dance and mooched me hard on my lips, taking my virginity away. Then ‘Swoosh!’ they took out their instruments – so sharp and fatal. And oh! the horror, they CASTRATED me! I woke up writhing in pain and drowning in my sweat. WG has better stage presence.
But when it comes down to it, both suck; good vocals without stage presence (or charisma) equates to failure as a performer unless the vocals are so outstanding they blow the audience’s mind–which they aren’t. Stage presence with the inability to sing detracts from the overall performance because the performer is attempting to sing, not stand around looking pretty.
On another note, I find both songs aggravating, but at least KY performed by SNSD is a full out cheerful pink sparkly song with invisible pink unicorns fluttering around and doesn’t try or bother to hide that fact… with WG performing it’s not nearly as sparkly… which rather ruins it for me, since I like it as a cheerful pink sparkly song with invisible pink unicorns fluttering around. That’s the point of the song.

One acute observer noticed that Wondergirls’ fans were booing SNSD and shouting “We don’t like you” (shirayo) “We hate you/You are mean” (Miwoyo) in Korean. You can hear it around 2:12 – 2:16, during sooyung’s dance. Wow, that’s why SNSD girls looked mad and embarrassed. Either they were forcing back their tears (like Yoona) or they were really pissed (like Jessica and Tiffany).
SM meticulously edited out the background booing and shouts by Wondergirl fans…that’s lame. But you can still catch it during Sooyoung’s perf. Thanks for the heads up…haha, they totally deserve it. Scumbags.
Honestly …The SNSD girls got good voice, better than the WG Girls. But the vibe that I got from them are they are not relaks, trying to hard and they are not enjoying being on the stage. Taeyon voice is too over powering, she need to tone down it a bit, Sunny going too high, Seo hyon is great, her voice fit this song, I don’t like jessica voice and this song doesn’t change my opinion, tiffany quite ok, yuri and hyo yeon are not on par with yoo bin. And the omona part…well, leave it to sohee girls.
For me it’s a matter who entertain me more. They are an IDOL singer/star so the whole package is what counted. The talent along with looks, personality, stage presence, great choreography, great songs and being true to them selves make me love WG more. They are having fun on stage…love it. Go WG..!!

WG didn’t do as good. It wasn’t because “KY” was bad, but because only one to two members can sing. They didn’t even sing for that long of a time and “KY” is obviously longer than that. WG isn’t used to songs that require vocal ability because they have a “who cares? we’re ‘hot’” mentality.
SNSD did sound odd at times. The omonas were awkward because people are used to seeing WG doing it 87486789 times. Sunny’s voice was wtf and Tiffany came in a little late, but all in all, they did better.

I have a soshified account because I liked SNSD a lot, especially Taeyeon, but after DC and checking out some blogs that are really pro-SNSD but disgusting towards everyone else and reading all the comments left by my fellow fans, my opinion of them just deteriorated… I’m still looking forward to their new project but every time I see the members’ cold faces (like in this Tell Me performance) I just get so uneasy. I think SeoHyun & SNSD did alright on WG song. But their expressions were way to fake and over the top acting. And Sunny sound so freaken werid, I couldn’t wait until she was done singing for that 10 seconds. And as much as I love tiffany her voice was cracking (& SNSD fans says SNSD sings live better Psh in your delusional dream they barely even sing live) I like Yuri rapping she was pretty good and thats about it. WG did a alright job on SNSD song too. But I like their sexy and mature image better. Overall the performance was OK.

@ anastassia, don’t you mean brown eyed girls? and the Grace gets promoted in Japan, so you might not hear much about them in Korea. Another thing, Wonder Girls are good, no need to associate them with SNSD just because they are forced to do each others’ songs.
Just because So Hot and Tell Me are more up tempo songs that suppose to make you get up on your feet and not suppose to have really thoughtful lyrics, doesnt make it not “real music”. Sunye and Yeeun can sing really well, you just need to listen to their ballods, no need to get all “sickened” there, these girls have done nothing wrong to get hated on unlike SNSD.

Hmmm….I think WG did a great job. SunYe always sings good live(to me). SNSD did good too, but I have some criticisms. Most of the members, were reduced to singing background. Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, and Seohyun were the ones mainly singing. Yuri’s rap was good, but of course it’s better when Yoobin does it. I didn’t like how Hyoyeon was rapping. I think she should just stick to the dancing. Finally, Sohee’s the only one who can do the cute surprise look better.
I like SNSD’s Sunny, but her voice sounded kinda weird in the performance.

I actually prefer SNSD’s version of Tell Me… Tell Me was made for a group with strong voices, and only 3/5 people in WG have strong voices.
As for the Wonder Girls’ version of Kissing You–not bad, just a few spots here and there where they couldn’t hit the high notes. They’re more for mid-low range songs anyways, like Nobody.
And this isn’t a parody, it’s a tribute.
Honestly, shenyuepop writers are accomplished fans… you even look for other artists who do covers of SNSD songs! And you guys analyze each and every move, just like a fan. You’ll end up loving them soon enough.
