I guess I’m in the minority here because I totally disagree, I think Gu Hye Sun is a wonderful actress, why blame her for the way she acted, doesn’t the director have responsibility for the way a character is portrayed. I loved Hye Sun in Nonstop 5 and Pure 19 and Boys before Flowers. She is a great actress.
I’ve seen all 3 versions of HYD. The Japanese was alright but the the guys were not good looking enough (in my opinion) to realistically play F4. Meteor Garden was boring. Korea’s was the best and most entertaining. Korea’s F4 is smoking hot.

I absolutely agree! I hated almost everything about Boys Over Flowers… I don’t care if it has the most good-looking F4! It’s called Boys Over Flowers, not Boys Over Acting!

I HATED Gu Hyesun! She over exaggerated to the point of disgust, and she looks (and IS) WAY too old. It freaked me out every time she tried to do an innocent smile (which totally looked fake) and say “I’m a high school student.”

Honestly, the only reason I watched the drama to the end was to watch the SoEul couple.

I thought BOF was quite endearing, if not a little redundant. GHS is neither an attractive woman nor an impressive actress, and I also wanted to punch her in the face throughout the drama, but overall, I thought the whole thing was pretty charming. I guess it all boils down to taste, though when I was younger I read the original manga that this whole thing sprouted from & loved it, so I may have been biased

Oh & @queenbqty: Korean F4 = utter smex, I agree.

i TOTALLY agree abt goo hye sun!!! every time she tried to act cute i fast-forwarded the scene. it was too much seriously.

that’s why I gave up watching a whole eps. I watched only Yijung and Gaeul parts which meant only a little part of BOF, her horrible acting made me want to shut her mouth!! why didn’t they give a new comer as a star instead of (that ugly) goo hye sun

Don’t agree. I think she was great ^^ And I was happy the day I learned she would play Geum JanDi/Makino Tsukushi. I didn’t feel like she over-acted…

Korean version made out of a original (well maybe not so much) story a boring-same-as-all thingie. I’m not forgiving them for that.

Oh, & c’mon. I’m not found of arashi but Matsujun is way hotter than minho. He is a dwarf but a good-looking one. Plus he is an actor. A real one.

This is MY opinion, but I agree, Gu HyeSun really bugged me when I watched the drama. She really wasn’t even THAT cute and… ugh. I don’t know, I preferred Kim So Eun over here. I’ll be frank, I didn’t think Gu HyeSun was pretty enough. Sorry.

i just watched 2 or 3 episode and then stop watching… it just the actors is bad looking and the plot is boring.
korean and taiwan is better…
and korean f4 are going to japan for the second times because many people still want to meet them.

well i don’t agreed with you, Jan DI in bof is cute and she is a good actor even though she’s making faces with it but its her part no need to worry about that. u say its OVER ACTING or (OA) its maybe bec. many people adored the kkot boda namja than the japanese one.and maybe bec. u were just jelaous or something like that.,although im not that fan of BOF but i like their scenes because they were fun and people whose watchin it enjoyed to the highest level..and also though we know that they were handsome and ipota but they also did their best as a good actor,bahal na c batman bxta they were good..

Hmmmm!!! There’s a difference between criticism and critiquing.

Acting: I thoroughly enjoyed the acting in BBF aka BOF.

The very basics of Acting 100-101…directors call the shots for the scenes, the actors do have some input on how to express and deliver the lines. Yet, the directors, overall have the final authority on how each scene should reflect to the audience and still come as close as possible to the writer(s) portrayal. Directors can add or subtract to the degree of expression in the actors delivery of each scene. Tell me…is there anyone, at the very first time they rode a bicycle had perfect balance and didn’t wobble. The same applies to learning how to swim. It takes time to develop until you become skillful at what you’re doing.

Age: something is really wrong with the naysayers eyesight. Haven’t decided whether too far-sighted or too near-sighted, yet. In either case, the naysayers vision is too blurry for me. HyeSun doesn’t look older than F4. Here in America, it’s not unusal for a person in their twenties to portray a high school student and girls, usually, mature faster than boys physically and emotionally. Also, depending on the indiviuals, I’ve seen high school females that I thought were in college and vice-versa. Many people in this country, do not look their age. All I can say is…you all really know who to encourage your own!???

I have said this many time… I love the jap version… I think it’s because the acting was much better and also you can see the chemistry and heartbreaking from the two lovers… In the Korean version… I don’t even feel like they had it together… and the Taiwan version… Umm.. I just thought it was boring.. But I have to say tho… The Korean version did have the best looking F4s… Well.. anyways.. I think I said enough.. so I’m outs…

The Korean F4 were indeed the best looking.

I absolutely loved HYD than BOF, especially since it had an all-star cast such as Matsu Jun whose in Arashi(one of JE’s prized possessions), Oguri Shun whose in countless and a large variety of dramas and movies; plus close friends with a lot of Japan’s A-list stars, Matsuda Shota whose also in a lot of great jdramas. I’ve been following kpop for ahwile and the only person I heard from the BOF cast was the leader of SS501 :/
