Popular girl group, SeeYa, is making their California Dream come true!! The group is set to release their new album, titled “California Dream”. The album is drawing lots of attention since the release of the new MV, showing Nam Kyu Ri, a member of the group who was was discovered as a coffee barista displays with a new look! The new album will consist of the song ‘Shoes II’, which already has received good response from fans since December 17th online release. The album will also include remakes, such as “The Day” by Kim Yeon Ji and Brown Eyed Girls’ Jea, “Deep Night”, which is a song that Nam Kyu-Ri sang for a movie’s OST, and a song by Lee Boram from popular kdrama, Full House, and other songs!! To make this album more of a California Dream, the cover for the album was shot in LA and sin city, Vegas!!

● “I got chosen as a coffee barista by a famous gasoo.”

-What kind of work did you do before? (albeit)
I’ve served coffee, worked for Burger King. … the cheapest work I had to do was a CF for about 150,000 won($150.00)

-How long did you work for the burger joint?
4-5 mo. More than anything, I liked enjoyed eating all the burgers for free! (laugh) Even in the day, it was irritating having to ask if they wanted a side slice of cheese with that or not. My work was mainly to “set” the burgers in the back kitchen.

-Seemingly, you would have gained a whole lot of attention at the coffee shops from guys because of your appearance.
I worked on purpose in the coffee shop by the Eastside of ChungDam because most of the gayo enterprises are located there. I had to make good use of my time since I wanted to audition. There were nasty (raunchy) customers, people who’d ask when I was off all the time, or even flat out ask me out for a date. But decisively, I had no taste for any one of them. (laugh)

-Any chance of remembering a particular customer?
Oh! Well, this is the first time I’m confessing this, but this popular singer once asked for me to go out with him. When I worked for the bubble tea shop, we’d drink bubble tea together almost everyday and then when I moved jobs to the coffee shop next door, I don’t know how he found that out but he came by the shop next door as well. And then one day he said he liked me and that we should date since I’m going to be a singer anyway. At the time, dating was a luxury beyond my means because all I wanted was to hurry and save money for the audition. I totally refused. I think that’s probably why he doesn’t even look or greet me when we sometimes run into each other behind the stage.

-Did you save alot of money by working (albeit)?
Yes. I never took the cab, so almost close to 5,000.000won. (5,000 dollars) I left it in my mother’s hands.

One of my firm beliefs is to not go anywhere out of the house. Cause if I see it I know I’ll want to buy it. When I was working, I’d buy a pair of jeans for 35000won or 35.00 dollars and wear it for a year. In high school, I really envied the girls who took vocal lessons privately. At least I had a computer!

-Oh, you must have practiced music lessons through the computer.
No, but I searched “how to do voice vibrations” “how to create a husky effect” some topics like these and study on my own. It’s a stupid way but it helped out in a grand way.

-You’ll be featured in the 2.5 album music video for next month! Isn’t this the 2nd time?
Yeah. Sad Footsteps-Goodoo (Shoes)2. In the movie, I’ll star a room-service girl. While we were filming the part where I got hit in the head by a glass bottle, my head split somewhere and I bled. It hurt so bad that when the director made his cut sign and came right over, my face was smiling but I’m all bleeding, tears were all over my face. I thought, this is what’s just unbearable.(laugh) And with acting, I studied out of a book called Monologue of the color white. The expression I like the most up to this day is that I can relate well most when I’m destitute.

BoA and DBSK won Gold Artist Award at the 2007 Best Hip Pop Song Festival! It is the 6th consecutive win for BoA and 1st win for the boys. They were given the award for having top record sales during a ceremony, which aired on Monday (10th) on Nihon Television. Other winners included Koda Kumi, whom collaborated with DBSK, Mika Nakashima, and Winds. The award is given to Japanese pop artists based on requests, record sales, and karoake ratings.

DBSK will be releasing their 15th single “Together” on the 19th of this month, and their 3rd Japanese album in January, along with their 16th single, Purple Line. They will also be releasing a 17th single, called “Trick”, and it has 5 different version. They will record Explore the Human Body with Super Junior on the 25th (thats x-mas!!), which will be aired on January 8th!!

Korean pop star BoA and the five-member all boy band TVXQ, also known as Tohoshinki, won Gold Artist awards at the “2007 Best Hit Pop Song Festival” in Japan. The two were given the Gold Artist award for top record sales during a ceremony that was aired Monday on Nihon Television.

Other winning artists include Japanese superstars Kumi Koda, Mika Nakashima and the group Winds.

For the 21-year-old BoA, this is the sixth consecutive win. For TVXQ, the award is their first win at the yearend music awards.

The five-member group comprising Xiah, Micky, Hero, Max, and U-Know has recently been aggressively promoting their music on the Asian market. They debuted in August and topped Japan’s Oricon daily singles charts with their number “Summer Dream.” TVXQ has already released 12 singles ¯ most of which landed in the Oricon top 10 charts ¯ and two Japanese-language albums in the last two years. They have recently collaborated with Koda on the song “Last Angel.”

The Best Hit Pop Song Festival recognizes the most popular Japanese songs and artists of the year, based on requests, record sales and karaoke rankings.

Once again, the news of award shows is back!! Only this time, it’s the Golden Disk Awards, which were held on Dec. 14th at the Olympic Gymnasium Stadium!! Golden Disk, it is said to be different from MKMF because is the Daesung award that all artists aim for, which is based on best song and artist of the year. It is equivalent to gold, like in Olympics, and they actually give out a gold medal with the trophy! It is the next biggest award is the Bonsang award, which it’s equivalent to silver, but no medal is awarded, just the trophy! Bonsang awards are for the artists that are in the final round to competing for the Daesung.

Once again, the big award goes to *drum roll* SG Wannabe, who was also the big winner back in 2005!! Another good thing about this show is that they always some how managed to get the party started with all the remixes of the songs!! I thought that Epik High’s performance was the best!! It featured Honey Lee (Miss Korea 1006) playing Fan on a GayaGeum instrument!! You really gotta check it out!

Min (JYP’s card for U.S. debut) and G-Soul went back to Korea on Saturday to get ready for one of the end of the year music awards. They will be opening for JYP’s concert. She’s also gonna start doing promotions for her U.S. debut in Korea. Her album is coming out early next year.

Also….Min, G-Soul and Wondergirls will be competing with YG and SM artists in what we assume to be a …dance battle, or battling for awards… but the recorded footage will be posted up on Min’s Youtube channel!
