The Mnet Asian Music Awards.

After the sudden and somewhat shocking announcement that the MKMFs were coming to a close after their 10 year anniversary celebration last year, many people were left wondering what would take the place of the dodgy but youth representative end of year Award show. It had been full of plenty of controversies over the years, my favorite, Lee MinWoo throwing a tantrum and leaving JYP to stand on stage looking like a lonely freak show act (or more accurately have that performance cancelled, I prefer my turn of events albeit delusional). Many people thought that some companies could “buy” awards and that the “rules” were only followed for Mnets best interest.

Well that reputation ends and Mnet is trying to renew things with a new stupidly named award show. MAMA is what they’re marketing it as. When I was online a week ago on Naver search, I was wondering why on Earth people wanted to know what MAMA was. Only to leave myself thinking it must be a lot of people on remedial English class. But then when I bothered to check today, I found it as the replacement show.

I don’t know why Mnet would cancel MKMF (except for the controversy but every show has their share, perhaps it will give birth to Korea’s own Kanye West? A K-Blogger can only dream), but all eyes on this baby till it finally airs.

Last years ceremony was a mess and looked rushed, unorganised and sorta cheap so hopefully MAMA will be a better and more entertaining offering. Mnet if you need any help I have a whole list of improvements for you ready at a moments notice.

Anyhow Mnet has not really started things on a mature note, they’ve gotten peoples feathers ruffled with their JaeBom marketing strategies. LOL.

“We want him there!”  Is what they’re screaming.  Making fans think that perhaps JaeBom will be making his comeback on their stage.  And a comeback seems somewhat likely and unlikely according to JYPE.  But then again JYPE don’t really say much so JaeBom showing up anywhere is really possible but not possible at the same time (see what I did there?).

I don’t really care for their strategies to get people watching, but I am wondering on one thing.  Is Mnet sticking to their 9 month ban on SM Entertainment artists?  If that’s the case will they also opt for the “no show- no award” rule?  So even if you vote for an SM artist they wont win?  I imagine it would be a better show all round though, what with all the controversies surrounding SM artists now, as Martha would say  “it’s a good thing.”  That and everyone else will have a better evening and a shot at winning (since SM are up there with the buying trophies controversies).

What the hell? I’m just getting confused in this entire business.

Please don’t blame me for not really wanting to read another word of Korean for a few days after how these events have progressed (or shall we say regressed), but it seems something else has popped up after Jay announced his withdrawl from 2PM.

People claimed that Jays and his friend “Yoon” had a website where they documented their efforts as “2 Korean Kids trying to break the color boundaries in HipHop”. As far as I’ve been told and can tell, the white messages are JaeBom and the purple is his friend “Yoon”. You be the judge.

Netizens are paying close attention to the fact that he wants to live life not as a part of JYP, but as a “Korean”.

Another topic is to how it seems that Jay and his friend Yoon now refer to Korea as the “motherland”. This is not a comment by either one of them, just a comment from a friend to them.

I’m speechless on a whole other level, thank you for the commenter “and so…” for letting me know about it and for the email.

SportsChosun within well, the last hour, covered a story on the Support 2PM JaeBom campaign that was hosted and spread by Overseas fans. They commented on the overwhelming support that was received in light of this controversy, and that after 2 days they did not only meet their goal but surpass it. And continue to.

If you have yet to sign the petition, go ahead and go to http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/supportleaderjaypark/ and do so. Although I do recommend that before more attention goes to the petition for the person to perhaps reword the petition letter for sensitivity’s sake.

Since this whole controversy started there have been some slightly irrational comments made and some of which were entirely ludicrous and immoral.

I prefer this blog stay light hearted, yet one Agora petition didn’t just make my eyes expand two centimetres but my soul quell in disgust. A petition calling for JaeBom to “commit suicide” in light of his dishonoring his country was up for a while, and not until it reached a couple thousand or so signatures did Agora think it right to take down. I have for a long time been worried and disturbed by the seeming openness and callousness that some youth have towards suicide. Which perhaps does explain why South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. While so much emphasis is put on Country pride, and so it should, apparently the emphasis on human life is lost. And that is downright disgusting.

And so, a few words said by a lost homesick youth is worthy enough for him to take his own life?  Now it’s not that we’re ignorant in knowing where this probably stems from. The actions that some Korean parents use to their children in terms of dishonoring their family name are what probably makes them not see the worth in human life. Saying things such as, “You’ve shamed us in front of our Ancestors, let’s all die together!“, and the like, will make a child not regard life as they truly should. And if the Government perhaps paid more attention on the youth and their value for life, rather than put so much emphasis and attention on MP3 illegal downloads, Gaming and the HallYu friggin wave and such, perhaps we won’t see such behavior online/offline. Obviously such actions stem from oppression in ones own life and thus sprouts and seeps in to their online personalities.   I do feel that concentrating on the future is extremely important, and our future rides on the youth of today.

I want to say this and make it clear, no one deserves any harm done unto them, no matter who you may dislike and how much you do, these celebrities are not criminals. Any wish for harm for a personality on screen is uncalled for, inappropriate and for lack of better words, immoral  (that applies to your own life as well). So, if you like having a soul and not worshipping the devil or being his accomplice in life, don’t ever think or wish those things on others. Voice your opinions of dislike, rant all you like, but wishing for a life to be taken away for an action, for words said or for mistakes reflects upon your character or lack thereof. Have a conscience people.

Any comparison to Steve Yoo (Yoo SeungJoon) are ridiculous, the man claimed to want to and was looking forward to serving his country. Before he was meant to leave for his military service he filed for U.S Citizenship and was soon deported for “desertion”. How in the World does that bare any similarity to JaeBom? He may be a U.S Citizen but is Korean, his parents are Korean and his Ancestors are Korean, so words said, perhaps against his country are as personal as it would be for a Korean with a Korean passport. I do suggest that if Park JaeBom plans on being taken seriously in the future, to take that up, learn the National Anthem and file for Korean Citizenship. What better way to prove your loyalty to your heritage? These words are years a part from the person he is today, our last article on the matter explains our opinions on that in particular.

I understand the hate, as a Korean, a proud one at that, seeing someone that is meant to represent you to the world say something like “I hate Koreans” is an utter insult, and then a day later perform in a “HallYu” event. It takes a while for the anger to resolve and for you to regain your composure and understand what was the true case. I am so disgusted and ashamed of the people who started and participated in that petition, as a fellow human being.

On the other hand, it is understandable for International fans to not fully comprehend the weight of Jays words.

Jay has had to stop his activity and stand down from his position on his variety show “Nodaji”. JYP has spoken up and he will not leave the group but 2PMs activities will come to a halt until further notice.

Now, everyone has a right to opinion in order to conclude whether these are authentic or not…

And frankly, this isn’t the first time someones posed as a trainee before on myspace… (Actually, is anyone ever authentic on MYSPACE?!) How many fake twitters have you guys come across?

Jay was a known JYP trainee, good ol’ SYP even covered a post about him a few years back…

It’s also not difficult to photoshop sh*t on to a myspace comment… Not too hard, believe me, overlay with orange and type in the same font, voila! Instant hate messages! You can even do it on Paint.

It could even be some crazy jealous classmate that wanted to avenge his envy by typing these messages to one day foil his popularity, cos “dang man I’m so damn *insert dirty word* jealous. It should have been me!!!!  GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!”. (A la Goob, “Meet The Robinsons”)

Now, we weren’t all born yesterday and we can’t ignore the possibility of authenticity, although I doubt it’s real, but in that case.

Jay should be ashamed of himself, such language and such obvious disregard for his fellow people is inexcusable, and an apology should be issued immediately.

And you won’t stay curious for long, someones bound to tweet JYP about it soon….

As I tell all of you about how I felt that time, I also would like to apologize. In January of 2005, I came to Korea as a high school student. I was born in the States and I had insufficient knowledge of how Korea is. Being it my first time, I couldn’t communicate with others, my taste buds didn’t fit, and I barely knew the culture which I couldn’t understand. I felt as though I was treated coldly by the people around me as my family was left in the States. It was such a difficult situation where I didn’t even know if I was going to debut. Due to many hardships, things were getting too hard and I was getting lonely being homesick. I had the thoughts of quitting and I wanted to go back to my family in the States. The comment based on the Korea part: I wrote that because of my personal situation I was placed in and my emotions took over. I was too young and said things in the wrong words. I was too foolish, young, and facing difficulties where I made the mistake into turning my surroundings worse. Time passed by and I forgot that I had even written them. I am now embarrassed and truly sorry of those comments I had made. After that time, I had adjusted to everything and my thoughts have changed tremendously as I thank the people around me to get me to perform on stage in any situation. Those comments were made four years ago, but I am a different person now. To my family, Hottests, members of 2PM, and those who love 2PM, I am truly sorry. From now on, I hope that there will be no mistakes like this ever again. I will say it one more time that I am truly sorry.

Now, I’m not too sure either, but this issue sure has moved quickly. No joke I was on the daum thread where there was only 200 comments, I refreshed and HOLY MACKERELS, over 1200 comments popped up. And that was in the span of 5-10 minutes. O_O

I’m not a fan of insulting your own race, or being overly vulgar, nevertheless if the apology is genuine then we can’t sit and curse him out.

I believe in redemption, I believe that admitting your own mistakes is one of the most difficult things to do. Apologising about something so sensitive and with a sincere and heartfelt apology puts one in a vulnerable position. “It takes a great deal of character strength to apologize quickly out of one’s heart rather than out of pity. I’m sorry (see what I did there), but it took guts to apologise, explain himself, show remorse and promise to not repeat things. He was young, stupid, reckless and well, a moron. But, he was alone in a country he barley knew, changing his life completely, from someone that’s had to do the same thing, you are an idiot until you adjust.

Jay, do this again and I am so hunting you down and teaching you some manners. Not in the nice English Aunt way either.

I’m usually far too lazy to catch things as they happen, so I’m surprised at how fast this popped up and was resolved. Here’s the apology in Korean through Newsen for those who are interested, it’s legit afterall. Newsen. Respect.

Ever since he landed on Earth a few hundred years ago, Andre Kim leapt out of his Space Pod and tried to introduce his very own “style” to the world.  After a couple hundred years without catching on, he moved to Korea where he was welcomed with open arms.

And he is there to this day, wearing the same outfit he did when he graced the planet all those centuries ago.  And finally, everyone is starting to wear clothes that are just so ginormous you could have a monkey friend or three stashed inside. Don’t be fooled by the Mass Media, Hip Hop did not start that trend, Andre Kim did.

Every year he has a “Fashion Show” made of last years house curtains in the exact style as the last, but no one has caught on yet… Most importantly, people are rocking his style and I’m sure he’s ecstatic about it…

JYP has always been perverse “daring” with his “Fashion Choices”, perhaps he can take over when Andre Kim returns to his own Galaxy.

JYP even made sure to make the 2PM boys pay a homage to the King Alien by making them all wear strange white outfits for the Mnet 20’s Choice, while WooYoung almost has an exact replica of his Hyungs Idol.

If the 2PM-2AM collabo parody of the Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” (Dirty Eyed Girls) was a cheap gay mans fantasy, than this must be what Jewelrys, polar opposite, straight womans fantasy must look like.

I’ve been waiting to watch this 2AM - 2PM (OneDay) parody ever since I heard it was coming. Why? Because anything gender bending becomes GOLD with Jo Kwon involved.

I personally don’t like it when boys do girl songs and end up looking like fools, but this was different from day 1. Brown Eyed Girls‘ “Abracadabra” was the target and the raunchiness seemed to fit the boys well… That and the whole thing was just so nasty it was good.

I want to officially declare my love for Jo Kwon and his outright shamelessness. Brother does not give a damn what you think and he’ll do what he likes, even if JinYoung Hyung isn’t impressed. He shimmies, he swings those hips and he shakes harder than a second class Egyptian belly dancer, and you’re gonna like it!

Magnae ChanSung works it and disturbs me a little, TaecYeon should seriously BURN those zebra print y-pants, they may be comfortable when you dance but not to wash on camera. SeulOng…OMG. Just OMG. I really really want his lipgloss. WooYoung played up his bizarrely natural Ssanti-ness, making cheap look cheaper in what looks like, pretty much, a cheap Gay Fantasy.

BEG show up in the end, as well as 2PM members Junho, JaeBom and Nichkhun, but noone can take the limelight away from Jo Kwon, who obviously owned this entire thing and the rest are so his biatches.

Funny how 2PM are the dance group but 2AM ended up being the more entertaining dancers. I don’t want to see them have another go at this cos I felt dirty through out, but this was just such LOLS, I’ve probably seen it three times now and will probably watch it again.

Damn it, if there ever was a greater disguise than a cute tall bunny ban (boyman for long), this one is the bestest. 4 weeks ago or so, while on a stroll in the dirty streets of HongDae, ChanSung, on camera, dropped a dangerous missile of something unrecognisable. And just recently some bored netizens finally made their voices known with their sheer stubborness and made some random people who work in Mnet and JYPE apologise. I am so gonna twitter your ass straight Chansung. Via DIRECT MESSAGE! MOOHAHAH. And major major LOLS at the excuse that this was scripted and they went back and cleaned the area. LOL.

Whatever man, there are more important things in the world than Carebears who care too much and dropping some unidentifiable missile that no one noticed but one bored and overly attentive fan. Dude, go clean the streets yourselves if you’re so passionate about it.

Dang. Everyone knows that Seoul needs better care in the streets. Litter and Pollution is a major problem, go out there and rally about it if you care so much.

No, I kid, it fell down from how intense her dance moves were… Worse part, no one noticed at the filming, it wasn’t until they looked over the tapes… I actually feel bad for them now, one thing, her shirt had nothing to cover and it travelled down and two, everyone knows cos someone was gracious enough to share the info.
