As with the end of year countdown, its always expected to have the Gayo DaeJuns (Song Festivals) take place days after each other for all the main broadcasting stations to show-off  or outdo each other with performances.

There’s always the same performances with the same people on SBS, MBC and KBS shows that you sometimes fail to remember which performance they wore that particularly hideous outfit in, or which one made a fool out of so and so, and which show so and so made you want to puke, etc. And believe me, that has become a staple amongst the shows and the obvious favouritism and lack of creativity/originality is insurmountable on these shows, that not watching them isn’t really going to make a difference.

Not to mention the glitches that shouldn’t be made in terms of technical support… How many mics not working, bad camera work, bad timing or lack of synchronisation is there with these things, eh? You would think that with it being an annual thing there wouldn’t be so many mistakes. Think again.

And that’s why, our wonderful readers and trolls, we’re giving you an account of our thoughts on the worth watching mishaps, blunders and just plain EEEEWSIES (as in EEW, what the hell is going on? That’s gross!) in the end of year Gayo DaeJuns… Where Gayo sometimes means KAyo! (GO! Go! GO! away! in Hangul).

Biggest blunder (possibly of all time) SNSD and their over-exposure (in so many shapes and forms).

Lady Gertrude in Shakespeare’s Hamlet said it best, when you try too hard to convince people of something, it most likely is not true….SNSD and SM “Thou Protesteth Too much” when it comes to claiming that your 9 demons have any talent.  Where the hell are the “Supernatural” Brothers  to get rid of the leeching, talentless, unbelievably un-sexy 9 demons of SM Entertainment?  Opening the doors of the Devil (aka Lee Sooman) really did let out some horrible things unto the World.  LOL.  Every performance was full of mishaps and blunders that lack of time could never account to the hideousness of their performances of their songs and/or special collabs.

Let’s get on to business shall we?

2PM weren’t very good in their past lives, were they?

WooYoung face right there, was his (And most peoples) expression  throughout the whole performance. Enough said.

G-Dragon gets emotional

Probably after watching Wooyoung suffer in the above.

But we all know G-D has had his fair share of bad press (Plagiarism and indecency!) so he lays the blame on the oldest excuse in the book “I got something in my eye”.  Smoke to be exact.

CL shocks

While performing G-Ds track “The Leaders”, 2NE1 leader, CL, wore a leotard of some sort with her underwear sticking out at certain places and had peoples panties in a twist since shes under-age. On the other hand, I don’t know if its those monster heels shes got on, or if its the out-fit or the hair but don’t G-D look teeny?

Boys should stay boys

I’m all for boys performing girls songs and vice versa but there’s a fine line between paying tribute and gay-fantasies.

The drag has got to go. (I thought they were “manly manly men!”?)

I actually thought ShinDong was HyunA for his, SHINee and MBLAQs’ performance of 4Minutes “Muzik”. On the plus side, I thought Key and ShinDong really worked it, and well… MBLAQ boys got the dancing down.

I don’t know what it is about Kwon that gets me in fits of laughter, that guy was made for the stage. 2PM/2AM/BEAST joint stage for Brown Eyed girls‘ “Sign” was good. They got those sleepy/dead looks down right, and of course a little Kwon diva moment in between.

I would have been fine with this performance if there was only less of GAH!ee. What was with that spasm in the end? Like a kick but then half way through her heart stopped beating too early and then, commence toppling.

And ofcourse…

Lil’ CL strikes again with her leaotard-ity!

CLs was the best rendition of this cross-dressing nightmare, hands down.

Mostly due to the fact that she IS G-Dragon, female.

Thats what got a reaction outta me from them liberal (Drag? Good!) SBS folks.

Greek Goddess Taemin decided to go for a futuristic look with his Toga. Thats the only way I can make sense of this out-fit, I have no idea what else it could be but it sure as hell left an impression on me.

But looks pimpalicious with the top hat and fur that he got as a trophy from his day hunting in the woods. Besides Gil owning everybody, he put on an awesome performance with teammate Gary and Jang Giha & The faces (Personally, one of my favourite bands)

JYP decided to spice things up with a “sexy” dance performance with Son DamBi. But we all know it was just an excuse to perform female dance moves on stage.

KBS Gayo Daejun was probably the most versatile out of the three, seeing as it wasn’t as much of an Idol Fest as MBC and SBSs’ were.

After School and Son DamBis performance of “When I grow up” certainly shocked me. I don’t know if Gahee was still hung up over performing “Heartbeat” the day before and that she, and apparently the rest of After School and DamBi, had to constantly pop their chests to regain composure, but what the hell was that?

Is Gahee really fluent in English? Cos’ by the sound of it, shes the worse of the lot.

Looks like JYP wants to re-live his youth through the 2PM boys (The sleazy hip thrusts, oh the sleazy hip thrusts!). DJ Jinyoung looking and sounding like a Cockatoo  really had me distracted, especially with the ad libs (lol) and the pleather (not lol).

I know there was probably a lot more to comment on with last years Song festivals but some performances took a lot to mentally block out (The ones that didn’t have “lol”s in them, just “Wtf?”s) and I would rather not re live them O_O(*cough*MBCs-horridly-cheesy-video-intros/attempts-at-creativity/reminder-of-why-their-variety-shows-are-failing*cough*). Plus, if I had to comment on everything disappointing I’d go on forever (Can somebody say Michael Jackson tributes? Where was the passion, where was the fire?).

So, which Gayo Daejun (No matter how exceptionally similar they were) did you like best?

Can you believe it? Another celebrity admitting to lying about their age.

Narsha of Brown Eyed Girls admitted on  SBS’ new show “Strong Heart” that she was actually born in 1981 as opposed to 1983.

Hot damn sister, I know that 2 years isn’t too much but that significantly changes what in the decades you’re in. HAH. Well kind of, she said she was in fact 29 turning 30.

They’re the same age!

Turns out that those three are all born in 1981, juicy eh?

Next up Ga-In (1987? STFU!) should admit her real age and we’re all set for an honest bunch of girls women.

Her company was the one to change the age and she finally was comfortable enough as an artist to admit her age.  Funnily enough I remember a Star Golden Bell episode where veteran singer pervert Kim GunMo mentioned how she would age in to beauty.  Well GunMo, is she beautiful in your eyes yet?  She just aged two years in the blink of an eye.  Or both my eyes, repeatedly.
Of course she isn’t the first and I can’t blame her considering that it’s the companies that change the ages to be able to market artists to a younger (and a more money spending crazy) market.  But damn, I still couldn’t help but be shocked.

A term I usually use to describe the manboy Jo Kwon himself. So it seems very relevant.

Honestly, I never really saw much point in “We Got Married“, I mean its a show that shows you marriage life through fake marriages of two would be strangers. That just both happen to be celebrities. And it never really truly shows you what marriage life is like, just a fantasy with simple hardship and a strict-ish script.

Now, it was entertaining and I admit to catching it every once in a while when its on the telly, but this may just….maybe lure me in to watch.

Why?

Because its bound to be explosive.  Put Jo Kwon in front of a camera and he’s bound to make you laugh.

LOL. Brown Eyed Girls‘  GaIn has never been really the most exciting young miss ever, and it still shocks me to this day that she is a year younger than I am. Though I’m proud to say that I can pass off as 4 years younger than her. But you can’t rule her out cos she seems a little bland, eh?

On the other hand, this surprising piece of news has overshadowed the other new couple announced. SGWannabes new crooner Lee SeukHoon and personality Kim NaYoung (who I love).

So that’s two slightly mentally unhinged personalities and two rather bland individuals as couples.  Whom are all quite attractive.  I wonder what target audience they’re going for now?

And what ever happened to the more realistic couples for this “reality” show?.

It doesn’t really matter though, if I wanted concepts that made sense I wouldn’t be going to MBC, or most Korean Broadcasting companies altogether. lol.

Finally,  thank God it’s not Nichkhun and GaIn, not because I’m insanely possessive of Khun, I’m actually not attracted to him, but his Mnet Scandal was not really that interesting, so Kwon is the safer and more entertaining bet.

If the 2PM-2AM collabo parody of the Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” (Dirty Eyed Girls) was a cheap gay mans fantasy, than this must be what Jewelrys, polar opposite, straight womans fantasy must look like.

I’ve been waiting to watch this 2AM - 2PM (OneDay) parody ever since I heard it was coming. Why? Because anything gender bending becomes GOLD with Jo Kwon involved.

I personally don’t like it when boys do girl songs and end up looking like fools, but this was different from day 1. Brown Eyed Girls‘ “Abracadabra” was the target and the raunchiness seemed to fit the boys well… That and the whole thing was just so nasty it was good.

I want to officially declare my love for Jo Kwon and his outright shamelessness. Brother does not give a damn what you think and he’ll do what he likes, even if JinYoung Hyung isn’t impressed. He shimmies, he swings those hips and he shakes harder than a second class Egyptian belly dancer, and you’re gonna like it!

Magnae ChanSung works it and disturbs me a little, TaecYeon should seriously BURN those zebra print y-pants, they may be comfortable when you dance but not to wash on camera. SeulOng…OMG. Just OMG. I really really want his lipgloss. WooYoung played up his bizarrely natural Ssanti-ness, making cheap look cheaper in what looks like, pretty much, a cheap Gay Fantasy.

BEG show up in the end, as well as 2PM members Junho, JaeBom and Nichkhun, but noone can take the limelight away from Jo Kwon, who obviously owned this entire thing and the rest are so his biatches.

Funny how 2PM are the dance group but 2AM ended up being the more entertaining dancers. I don’t want to see them have another go at this cos I felt dirty through out, but this was just such LOLS, I’ve probably seen it three times now and will probably watch it again.

Yeah, what with the Kpop world overrun by so many females that it’s getting quite ridiculous, I was fairly disinterested in the Jewelry comeback. I hoped they would have made their comeback in the colder months to garner more attention, but we can’t have what we want all the time, can we?

And if you thought G-Dragon was the only one having his cosplay fun, making the world know that he idolises Draco Malfoy, you were wrong. Jewelry are doing it too, sophisticated they may not really be, but it’s still interesting to see.

Since ShaBANG is making me look bad and has posted all things I wanted to comment on, I’m going to stick with just commenting on it’s posts.

Nonetheless, there is something that’s been irking me and annoying me lately.

You know when a company releases news about a comeback of one of it’s biggest artists? And then, they release so many teaser pictures, videos and so much news it just gets too annoying to bear?

Well, I’m not talking about T-Ara cos well, I have no interest in them, it’s Brown Eyed Girls.

I don’t care about your personal desperation for some action, just keep it off-screen. I don’t want to see two would-be skeletons smoochin’

They originally were the female version of legends Brown Eyes, who proved that even without any promotional activity their name alone can get them number 1 albums and break records when it’s released. Yet, their female counterparts just disappoint, their dancing is well,uninteresting and wooden. They’re also freaking fading away the longer they’re in the industry and it’s scary to watch. I feel like they’re deteriorating with every album, last time they lost a monster 10 kilos and this time they look like they weigh even less.

And well, Fabio prefers his women to not be used alternatively as toothpicks.

Anyhow, if you ignore the hubbub and the confused marketing strategy (they were stripey first time round), they’re song sounds like a catcher on. I mean it’s a little different to what’s out there and it’s not too far away from what made them big last album.

Kim JangHoon still in Hospital

The gold hearted legend that is Kim JangHoon, has been admitted to hospital and is there to this day. On the 28th he was performing in his “SoHaean Festival” which was in support of the West Coast Oil Spill residents in Taean, which is till plaguing them to this day. While performing in the middle of the stage, it started to rain and Mr. JangHoon slipped. He couldn’t get up again, and it was later revealed that he had fainted and was sent to the emergency room in a nearby hospital. Kim JangHoon has been in the business for years, donating a percentage of his profits through out his career to innumerable charities and graced the stage with plenty of the new generations best loved stars. We hope he gets better and takes a good rest.

It’s starting to get frustrating the amount of celebrities weekly being admitted to hospital due to exhaustion. He joins this weeks other exhauastee Micky Yoochun of DBSK. I’m thinking of dedicating an entire section of this weekly segment just for this. It is after all a recurring theme. However, I think these incidents might have been prevented if these celebrities engaged in yoga and other relaxation activities.

WonderBang

A lot of this week’s news surrounds teen idol groups, Wonder Girls and Big Bang.

Two of the Wonder Girls girls are proving that they can multi task like no other. As well as promoting their own group Single “So Hot”, SunYe and YeEun are featuring on Mighty Mouth’s “Energy” and OneTwos “Bad Girl” respectively. They’re also riding high in the charts, in their 4th consecutive week as Number 1. JYP must be dancing the “Tell Me” in celebration. Here’s the Singles Chart for this week. T.O.P is accepting acting gigs.

It seems he’s been cast in the Drama “I.R.I.S“, set in the states where T.O.P is an undercover detective hunting an assassin. Besides the plot being very ambitious and the production costs being over 20 million Dollars, it shocks me that they would cast such an inexperienced actor in a lead role. But it seems that talent is never really an issue nowadays. T.O.P was previously cast in the mini-drama ‘I am Sam‘ with Yang DongGun. His acting was somewhat bland in that, let’s hope he does a better job this time.

DaeSung cast in world famous musical.

‘Cats‘ the well loved musical has been translated in to Korean and will start its rounds in Seoul in September. DaeSung of Big Bang was cast as Rum Tum Tugger, the ladies man of ‘Cats’. For some reason I really doubt that DaeSung knew what he was getting in to. For one, he needs to wear LYCRA, get face painted to death and shake his pelvis like no other. You don’t have to be seen to be Number 1

Brown Eyes have made their comeback in the form of a new album. The management companies that use the “spread your artists around real thin” for publicity angle must be angry, since Brown Eyes are nowhere to be seen and their album sold a respectable 15,000 copies since its release the previous Thursday to the last. Its bizarre to me how a number 1 spot in singles goes to a group like the Wonder Girls and the album top spot goes to Brown Eyes, they just seem like polar opposites to me. The Korean Music Industry is ever surprising.

Tribute to Jewelry

Besides this quartet being the most random group of all time, the ridiculousness doesn’t end there. They will be laying tribute to Jewelry this coming week on Music Bank. Why they’ve picked this particular four I do not know, but apparently the higher ups at Music Bank think Jewelry are more worthy of a cover than perhaps, Fin.K.L, Baby V.O.X (without the bloody ReV) and S.E.S. Worse yet, they’re covering “One More Time”. So please don’t make any plans this Friday, make sure you catch Music Bank, if you’re not wowed by the performances I’m sure you’ll be laughing. Son DamBi is getting busy lately with anything and everything under the sun, besides living up to her ‘Female Rain’ hype. She’s featuring on Sung SiKyung new music video as his love interest and heats it up with a kiss scene. A hard day’s work for Son DamBi.

Channel S

It’s difficult enough in South Korea to download music, search for pictures and view videos, and for that reason, the new technology saviours that are Channel SBSi and SM Entertainment have concocted a new revolutionary service called ‘Channel S’. Yes, of course this is not another ploy to get money; it’s a gift to the unresourceful public. I’m being sarcastic of course. This is a new system for mobile phone users that provides them with pictures, videos, ring tones, shows and all the other things you don’t need on your mobile, strictly SM and SBS related. The commencement ceremony took place on the 25th June and SHINee and Super Junior Happy were present. It’s available now and I’m sure it’s going to be insanely popular.

Dongducheon Rock Festival

We gave you news last week of the Seo Taiji’s comeback Rock festival, but now there seems to be competition. Dongducheon Rock Festival is taking place on August 15th to 17th, which is the same time ETPfest is supposed to be taking place; both are annual summer rock festivals. International as well as national stars will be contributing to this festival as well. The line-up includes artists such as Moon HeeJun, N.EX.T, Guyz, Crying Nut, Dr Core 911, Vanilla Unity, Cherry Filter, Boohwal, Transfixion, Maya, Super Kidd and many more. The only downside to this is picking which festival to attend.

It’s also great news that Epik High are preparing a new single for this coming Autumn.
