As with the end of year countdown, its always expected to have the Gayo DaeJuns (Song Festivals) take place days after each other for all the main broadcasting stations to show-off  or outdo each other with performances.

There’s always the same performances with the same people on SBS, MBC and KBS shows that you sometimes fail to remember which performance they wore that particularly hideous outfit in, or which one made a fool out of so and so, and which show so and so made you want to puke, etc. And believe me, that has become a staple amongst the shows and the obvious favouritism and lack of creativity/originality is insurmountable on these shows, that not watching them isn’t really going to make a difference.

Not to mention the glitches that shouldn’t be made in terms of technical support… How many mics not working, bad camera work, bad timing or lack of synchronisation is there with these things, eh? You would think that with it being an annual thing there wouldn’t be so many mistakes. Think again.

And that’s why, our wonderful readers and trolls, we’re giving you an account of our thoughts on the worth watching mishaps, blunders and just plain EEEEWSIES (as in EEW, what the hell is going on? That’s gross!) in the end of year Gayo DaeJuns… Where Gayo sometimes means KAyo! (GO! Go! GO! away! in Hangul).

Biggest blunder (possibly of all time) SNSD and their over-exposure (in so many shapes and forms).

Lady Gertrude in Shakespeare’s Hamlet said it best, when you try too hard to convince people of something, it most likely is not true….SNSD and SM “Thou Protesteth Too much” when it comes to claiming that your 9 demons have any talent.  Where the hell are the “Supernatural” Brothers  to get rid of the leeching, talentless, unbelievably un-sexy 9 demons of SM Entertainment?  Opening the doors of the Devil (aka Lee Sooman) really did let out some horrible things unto the World.  LOL.  Every performance was full of mishaps and blunders that lack of time could never account to the hideousness of their performances of their songs and/or special collabs.

Let’s get on to business shall we?

2PM weren’t very good in their past lives, were they?

WooYoung face right there, was his (And most peoples) expression  throughout the whole performance. Enough said.

G-Dragon gets emotional

Probably after watching Wooyoung suffer in the above.

Hes a sweet Hyung he is.

But we all know G-D has had his fair share of bad press (Plagiarism and indecency!) so he lays the blame on the oldest excuse in the book “I got something in my eye”.  Smoke to be exact.

CL shocks

Aww, they’re like Lil’ Kim and Se7en!

While performing G-Ds track “The Leaders”, 2NE1 leader, CL, wore a leotard of some sort with her underwear sticking out at certain places and had peoples panties in a twist since shes under-age. On the other hand, I don’t know if its those monster heels shes got on, or if its the out-fit or the hair but don’t G-D look teeny?

Boys should stay boys

I’m all for boys performing girls songs and vice versa but there’s a fine line between paying tribute and gay-fantasies.

The drag has got to go. (I thought they were “manly manly men!”?)

I actually thought ShinDong was HyunA for his, SHINee and MBLAQs’ performance of 4Minutes “Muzik”. On the plus side, I thought Key and ShinDong really worked it, and well… MBLAQ boys got the dancing down.

I don’t know what it is about Kwon that gets me in fits of laughter, that guy was made for the stage. 2PM/2AM/BEAST joint stage for Brown Eyed girls‘ “Sign” was good. They got those sleepy/dead looks down right, and of course a little Kwon diva moment in between.

I would have been fine with this performance if there was only less of GAH!ee. What was with that spasm in the end? Like a kick but then half way through her heart stopped beating too early and then, commence toppling.

And ofcourse…

Lil’ CL strikes again with her leaotard-ity!

CLs was the best rendition of this cross-dressing nightmare, hands down.

Mostly due to the fact that she IS G-Dragon, female.

Thats what got a reaction outta me from them liberal (Drag? Good!) SBS folks.

Greek Goddess Taemin decided to go for a futuristic look with his Toga. Thats the only way I can make sense of this out-fit, I have no idea what else it could be but it sure as hell left an impression on me.

But looks pimpalicious with the top hat and fur that he got as a trophy from his day hunting in the woods. Besides Gil owning everybody, he put on an awesome performance with teammate Gary and Jang Giha & The faces (Personally, one of my favourite bands)

JYP decided to spice things up with a “sexy” dance performance with Son DamBi. But we all know it was just an excuse to perform female dance moves on stage.

KBS Gayo Daejun was probably the most versatile out of the three, seeing as it wasn’t as much of an Idol Fest as MBC and SBSs’ were.

After School and Son DamBis performance of “When I grow up” certainly shocked me. I don’t know if Gahee was still hung up over performing “Heartbeat” the day before and that she, and apparently the rest of After School and DamBi, had to constantly pop their chests to regain composure, but what the hell was that?

Is Gahee really fluent in English? Cos’ by the sound of it, shes the worse of the lot.

Looks like JYP wants to re-live his youth through the 2PM boys (The sleazy hip thrusts, oh the sleazy hip thrusts!). DJ Jinyoung looking and sounding like a Cockatoo  really had me distracted, especially with the ad libs (lol) and the pleather (not lol).

I know there was probably a lot more to comment on with last years Song festivals but some performances took a lot to mentally block out (The ones that didn’t have “lol”s in them, just “Wtf?”s) and I would rather not re live them O_O(*cough*MBCs-horridly-cheesy-video-intros/attempts-at-creativity/reminder-of-why-their-variety-shows-are-failing*cough*). Plus, if I had to comment on everything disappointing I’d go on forever (Can somebody say Michael Jackson tributes? Where was the passion, where was the fire?).

So, which Gayo Daejun (No matter how exceptionally similar they were) did you like best?

Ever since he landed on Earth a few hundred years ago, Andre Kim leapt out of his Space Pod and tried to introduce his very own “style” to the world.  After a couple hundred years without catching on, he moved to Korea where he was welcomed with open arms.

And he is there to this day, wearing the same outfit he did when he graced the planet all those centuries ago.  And finally, everyone is starting to wear clothes that are just so ginormous you could have a monkey friend or three stashed inside. Don’t be fooled by the Mass Media, Hip Hop did not start that trend, Andre Kim did.

Every year he has a “Fashion Show” made of last years house curtains in the exact style as the last, but no one has caught on yet… Most importantly, people are rocking his style and I’m sure he’s ecstatic about it…

After the 6 demos were useless….

With their demonstrations and protests unheeded by SM Entertainment, Super Junior fans have decided to combine their money and buy into SM stocks in order to have a legal representation as part of the company stockholders.

They released a statement through the media, “To support Super Junior and protest against SM Entertainment from the adding new members at their call, even if there’s a small possibility, even if it’s just one stock, we are going to work towards obtaining a seat. As of today, we have 58, 206 stocks.”

SM Entertainment has released 160 million stocks to the stock market and the fans currently hold a 0.3% of that total amount.

To facilitate more support, Super Junior fans in Korean have opened a “One Fan One Stock” website for their campaign to obtain a seat and not just in Korea, fans all over the world can also join in to do their part to stop SM Entertainment.

This comes after SM Entertainment sneakily added one more Chinese member named Chou Than Than recently for a special album about sports for celebrating of Olympic Beijing 2008. They were doing it quietly in case something happened like last time when they tried to add Henry to Super Junior.

Something like what Liverpool fans are doing to “save” their football club from their inept owners. But it would take a while for it to come to fruition seeing how young the fanbase of Super Junior is.

Like a simple truth of every drop of water fills the ocean and every bit of star fills the sky, I wish this campaign to be an opportunity for us to restore our rights as fans, consumers, and shareholders and directly invest on Super Junior’s promising future with my own money.

But please keep this in mind that although the shareholders are the owners of the company, the degree of influence of an individual shareholder or a group of shareholders is proportioned with the number of stocks an individual or a group has. Therefore, we cannot tell the company what to do with their business management. However, we can request them to insist “the management that prioritizes the shareholders.” The actual degree of influence might not be great, but one cannot ignore the reality that the fans are directly involving with the company’s business management. The difference of impact is even bigger; crowd of fans doing public demonstration outside of the SM building and a number of shareholders going into the SM fortress. I cannot say this enough; it is so significantly important and crucial to have one more shareholder and one more stock with us.

(you, our smart and sensible readers, won’t buy “That’s the magic of Bobbi Brown and MAC” thing, will you? i’ve seen such naive comments, but we all know, to make a before-after look of dear Sunny, whose previous look wasn’t as sunny as it is today, Bobbi Brown must be an alum of Hogwarts School Of Make-Ups)

so, circle lenses are not enough, eh?ooh no, they need permanent bigger eyes (for clearer visions?perhaps…) so long for natural/traditional beauty…plastic is natural now.

Not that there’s no true natural looks, if we dig deep enough, sure we can find those real beauties. I won’t mention the ladies, we all know who the minorities are. But check out Mr. Rain. (Well, i won’t say he’s a beauty, but he’s okay.) I’m not sure if he’s ever done anything to his unsymmetrical slanted eyes, but wow, who can count how many diehard ahjummas he has.

Now, now, this whole thing can’t be just about physical figure, isn’t it? of course not. Good looks, real or fake, would be just a boring accessories if you don’t have the aura. They say Lee Hyori is a natural beauty (well, there goes the relativity of natural. I’d say Ganguro look -afro look, popular in Japan- is definitely not a natural way to define beauty, but guess natural of Lee Hyori meaning no knife). And, she has the aura. now read carefully.

For me, she combines the aura of sex appeal and , not necessarily stupid, but dumb, yes. Who would believe a person who said “I will use my sexiness to conquer Japan” has an IQ high enough to count her pride?not me.

And that way, she’s not boring. oh yeah, she’s not.

Of course, that’s not the only choice of aura. It’s a tentative matter. You can be smart, elegance, snob, bitchy, holy, whatever. Just don’t be plain.

What else?

You wanna be a singer but you can’t sing nor dance? You wanna be an actress but you can’t act? No worries. Those management companies will train you, half of your lifetime if it’s needed, to make you good enough to sell. Years of training will have its fruit when the trainees see their faces on the net, being talked about by the netizens. And the long awaiting till come the time for your debut doesn’t make you loose your life anyway. You can go to school, you can have parties with your friends, and you can fool around with your seniors at the company. Fun.

But of course, life’s hard when you’re a celebrity. There will always be people bashing you around and poking you, making fun of you, picking on you (eg. me). Be careful of your flaws. Don’t be off guard. Defend yourself in a smart way, or if your brain is not big enough to do that, forever hold your silence.

so what exactly do we need to be a celebrity in South Korea?…hmm…first, let’s see what we DON’T need :

1. Good looks. (Frankenstein, you can join. Don’t worry, the surgeon will wave its magic knife, you can have any face you like. You name it, they sew it. Ugly Duckling, you can be the prettiest silicon swan on the lake)

2. Talents. (Remember our so-called swinger girl Jessica? 7 years in the training should make it obvious how much talent she had in the first place. But hey, look where she is now, a soon-to-be-debutante, and a full experience with some of the hottest guys in the industry. Guess it is also included in the training syllabus. That and the plastic surgery. Shenyue said she’d love to be a trainee just to see how her face would be when she’s out of the training LOL)

3. Brain nor Pride. (You can be simply sexy. Say “I’m sexy enough for my brain and pride”)

4. Sensitivity. (Remember, No pain no gain, darlings. Besides, suicidal celebs are not cool)

5. Old pictures. (Ask your parents to burn your old photos, bribe your old school mates to admit that your pointy nose is a real, you have it even since primary. Don’t let the netizens find your sore spot and poke it. It might hurt. And humiliating.)

6. Coy attitude. (Kawaii only works in Japan. Remember, Sexy is the keyword. oh, and Plastic.)

And what DO we need?

1. KSSN. (It’s a possibility. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ask for your KSSN before they hand you the mic on the stage, or before the director says “action!”. So find your way out if you’re a foreigner: a) marry a Korean, or b) just ask for a miracle, that tomorrow you’ll wake up as a Korean.)

2. Something different from your group mates. (Coz usually after the surgery, you all will look like twins, coz the company sends you to the same surgeon and the very uncreative hairstylist will give you the same hairstyle. So make sure you have something different, like maybe your chipmunk-speaking voice, or blinking habit, or a tattoo -don’t ask your senior Se7en for an advice for this matter-. Let’s hope in a year or two, your family and fans can finally differentiate you from the other group members by spotting that little mole on your upper lips.)

3. Tutor-bodyguard. (If you can read and understand this post, good. Maybe you only need a Korean tutor-bodyguard. If you already speak Korean, even better. You just need a bodyguard to save you from crazy die-hard fans you will have. And make sure the bodyguard looks convincing, no chubby-chubby nor skinny-skinny, at least bigger than you.)

4. Sexy-trainer. (You need to look sexy, then you need a private trainer. Let me introduce you to Choi Seong Jo, a trainer that shapes the body of famous celebrities’ in Korea, like Cha Seung Won and comedian jeong Hyeong Don

7. Strong and good sense to choose your stage name. (Don’t let anyone give you stupid name, like numbers or weathers, or coloured body parts like Purple Ears, or any abbreviates like ABCD or XYZ or PQRS, or even I.A.M.G.O.O.D. Big chance it will happen, so be ready with your name since the beginning and good story behind it. Never let people know you get the name from kimchi dish or any un-elegant source.)
