But when I heard that “Gundam couple” AKA JunJin and actress Lee ShiYoung had broken up, I was left with a frown. I’m not the type to ship and was never interested in celebrities love lives (Let alone “We Got Married” couples *scoff*) but I really thought they were a cute couple and wished them the best when it was announced.

Though JF Story Entertainment (JunJins label) stated that “They still have feelings for each other”, they still decided on the break-up.

Well, with JunJins milatary draft just around the corner (God knows when, since he keeps postponing it), I expect its for the best.

Something one has to get acquainted with when in to K-Entertainment is how “close” men are. Boys are of course, much more comfortable with their male friends rather than female, and skinship is more accepted with two men rather than a man and woman. That probably comes from the crazy jealousy that girls do get every once in a while, when they see a guy they like coercing and getting touched up by another female.

Nevertheless, it is so much more mainstream and acceptable seeing something like this in Korea than say in some places in the West…

Infinity Challenge has had some experience in broadcasting such scenes, and HyunDong and HongChul have even done the double….

Super Junior did the same thing on their “Exploring the Human Body” show, so Infinity Challenge aren’t craving for some man action…Or…

With sad eyes and a full heart JunJin of Legendary Shinhwa is heading off to do his Mandatory Military Service this February.

It’s sad to see the Shinhwa members go off to the Army, knowing we won’t be seeing them for a whole two years, but of course it is their duty as South Korean Young men.

Leader of Shinhwa Eric has already trotted off to the army, and after 4 weeks of training he is performing his civil duty as we speak. Next in line it seems of the Shinhwa members to go is cuteypie Kim DongWan (can you tell I like him?).

With his busy schedule JunJin had to put off his entrance in to the Army due to his schedule and unavoidable album work. JunJin has been receiving a lot of love recently due to his many activities, and we wish him the best of luck and cant wait to see what he has planned for us before he enlists.

Festival rocks Jamsil to pieces

Two big Concerts took place in two Jamsil stadiums last week, ETPfest and SMTownLive ‘08. There were strange things to pick up in the media about one of them, but clearly they were both marked as successful. ETPfest opened up to a sold out audience opening its doors to over 40,000 spectators within the two days of the festival. The show was undoubtedly awesome and I think we can all be envious to those of which that attended. SMTownLive opened to Jamsil Olympic stadium with a less than enthusiastic response, but still went on to get a lot of positive remarks from the media due to the Big Name performers there.

Big Bang got busy

With Big Bang releasing their mini-album ‘Stand Up‘, it’s no surprise that they would be in the limelight a lot. With the Olympics still going on there is not much attention paid on the Celeb world or Music world since all eyes are on Beijing, yet Big Bang have found their own way to still pop up on the Media Radar.

First it was their crazy concert in Thailand:

Before they started their official promotions of their new mini-album the Big Bang boys held a concert in Thailand, causing many a fan girl to faint. 20 to be exact and it seems YG Entertainment was proud to mention it. “Our boys are studs and can knock you out with a look” is what they said in my head, after mentioning that.

The release of two MVs within a week.

It took a while to get here, “haru haru” of Big Bang that is, yet as soon as they released that MV with actress Park Min Young, we got another surprise with the release of “Oh My Friend” featuring the psychotically entertaining No Brain. I am all for promotion of underrated KRock Artists mainly because the underground K-Music scene is full of awesome talent, but seriously I couldn’t let ‘haru haru’ sink in and then got bombarded with “oh my friend”. Big Bang make it up though with being cute, and well seeing G-Dragon as a mental patient is always nice….

Thailand got lucky

Well to me, they did. Not only did they get Big Bang but soon after they left, Epik High came for promotions and a showcase for over 1000 fans. “We went there without much expectation, and it turned out we have a lot of fans here in Thailand. We were shocked when they sang along with us during our showcase performances. We have a tight schedule here, we are not feeling tired and is advancing smoothly.” Is what Tablo said on a phone interview about their trip. Any Thai fans out there willing to take me in next time they have Epik High around? Better yet any Thai fans that attended either event of Big Bang and Epik High?

SHINee need mouth to mouth resuscitation.

Noona’s, you wish. Well it’s a play on words to SHINees’ new single “You’re like Oxygen” that they teased us with the week before. The 5 young boys performed it at SMTownLive ‘08 (which was like a promotional tool for the upcoming SM plans to be honest), to a big happy response from fans. I am still waiting on the official MV, but in the forums you can get a listen. I hear only Michael Jackson with this song and as the official release is due tomorrow, wait for that. Although there is some controvercy surrounding the originality of this track, I am still giggling at their attempts to man-up these cute little boys.

It’s Wonder JIN?

Mnet is always the place to be for young music pop fans and their events are always fun to keep an eye on. You are bound to get some drama and interesting footage to keep you entertained till the next years version. And Mnet doesn’t want this years Mnet 20’s Choice (last years was the first), to go without some major attention. It’s not enough with their weird awards and choices but they have a strange collab stage going too. Jun Jin of Shinhwa and the Wonder Girls are going to share the stage for something, apparently spectacular. Well that’s what the PD is insisting on (I love how PDs get attention in SK don’t you?), and the PD also claims that after the performance it will by number 1 on search engines…. Ok, we will have our eyes on your project PDnim, but expect our laughter recorded and sent in a package to you if it ends up a joke….

Bae YongJoon forever young

In the heart and soul. The beloved Hallyu star had shoulder surgery recently after his well publicised shoulder ligament injury. After the two injuries Mr. Bae YongJun received after filming his last blockbuster he has been recuperating in the States and now will remain in the hospital for a week. South Korea’s prize smile should keep himself fitter and safer so he can swoon more Ajummas in to the Hallyu Wave…

East of Eden, right down the street

This has gotten tongues wagging for a while now with the uber awesome cast. The cast has a lot of big time names in it that leave your head reeling. Song Seung Hun, Yun Jung Hoon, Park Hae Jin, Lee Da Hae, Lee Yeon Hee, Han Ji Hye, Dennis Oh, Jo Min Ki, Lee Mi Sook, Kim Bum, Shin Eun Jung and many more are set to star in it. The teaser has finally been released and it will be interesting to tune in and see how this drama goes. The plot speaks of revenge, murder and ill-doings, definitely something to watch with a cup of tea and chocolates. Bring it on MBC.

The title song “Wa” comes from the Korean word to “come near”. It’s about the peculiar, mysterious psychology that sparks between a man and a woman at the club. The music video was also shot at a club, showing Junjin’s handsome, yet sexy features. Not long time ago we read our Korean friends are worried about how bad KDramas are doing in China … so they started their reinforcement plans on the Chinese-speaking regions … we saw they dragged Kim Jeong Hoon off his last screen in Witch Amusement with his desktop computer and even stopped his music promotions in Japan to cast him off with a Dual Chinese-Korean drama production. Then joined him with Jang Nara as publicity ambassadors of Korean dramas at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in China. Not long time ago Ivy, Kangta, Son Ho Young, Mina also had Hallyu concerts in China! Now here comes the new story about Kangta! KBS annonuced that Kangta will appear in a special TV drama produced by Chinese broadcaster CCTV. SM Entertainment, said the six-episode drama will mark China’s National Day on October 1. Here is the story-line if you are interested …. I swear you can totally guess the story by yourself but here it is … drama is about three sisters and their adventures in romance. Kangta will play a top Korean singer named An Chil-hyun (Kang’s real name), who loses his memory after an accident!!!!!! Didn’t i tell you? He showed up at the announcement of the drama’s production by appearing in a traditional costume with his partner, Huang Sheng Yi, which happened to be surprising to the press!

Also let’s not forget on JunJin from Shinhwa who spent the last couple months promoting himself as a singer in China! … the latest on him is his debuting news on his first Korean Drama BYulSoonGum (a 20 episodes drama!) JunJin has done other projects like “Let’s go to the Beach” (HaeBYunoologayo), Nine Tailed Fox and “Nonstop4″! Junjin’s Character in this story is said to be about a man named KimSaYool(JunJin) that has to give payback to a young woman who killed his father! So sad huh?

and finally speaking of Hallyu in China brings only one pop boy band in mind!! That is Super Junior …. according to Sohu.com on July 20 the boys attended a charity concert held in Shanghai and only ten of the 13 Super Junior boys made it to the show. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Society of China. The Shanghai show was the last leg of a three-city charity event jointly sponsored by Cyworld.com.cn and Sohu.com. The show stopped in Beijing and Guangzhou in mid-June. Participating musicians included Chinese American singer and songwriter Lee-Hom Wang (insert a HEART here please *giggling*) and Jun Jin.

Let’s finish this post with one more news on Super Junior. It was kind of sad that Lee Teuk and GyuHyun got into a car accident couple months ago. The accident also made these two in a greater loss, due to their very bad health condition, LeeTeuk had to give his role in the new movie “Pretty Boy Terror Event Series” to Heechul. And even worse Gyuhyun wasn’t able to be in the movie because he was in more worse condition than LeeTeuk! Hopefully suju will make another movie after this and all 13 members could be in it~

Shinhwa member Junjin received his military enlistment warrant last April 22 but he decided to postpone his military training.

“I am deferring my military enlistment because of the promotions I will be holding in China and Shinhwa’s album recording. I will have no problems even if I postpone my military training until 2009. I will surely enlist as a man of the Republic of Korea”, Junjin expressed.

Junjin is currently studying Chinese.
