Shinhwa will have “SHINHWA MUST GO ON – 10th Anniversary Live” at Seoul Olympic Garden Stadium and Kangta’s in “Eternity – Forever” & fanmeeting in Seoul YeonSeDae hall. If i’m not mistaken, this will be Kangta’s last performance before he goes to the army. Last chance to kiss him good bye, ladies!

Last week, Kangta was interviewed; he revealed that he recently broke up with his GF, who could have been his fiancée. He also revealed that they broke up because he wanted to fulfill his duties as a male Korean citizen: military service.

On March 11th during an interview with a Mydaily reporter, he said:

“About one year ago, I passed a sad break-up. I haven’t told this to anyone. Because I didn’t know when I will join the army, I broke up with my girlfriend who was supposed to be my fiancée…

“We both hoped the relationship between us can last, we even thought of marriage, but she had a big pressure with my duty in military service. If we continued like that, it would be more painful for her; she couldn’t wait for more than 2 years. Therefore, we chose to break up.”

Also:

“At that time, I was really sad too. I met a girl I liked, but whenever I think I will join the army, I can’t open all my heart as I want to. I’m the kind of person who has been separated once, I can’t even think of having a new love”.

It explains why he’s disappeared off the face of the planet and why his new album was full of ballads! On April 1st, he will once again disappear to do his military services!

Pop singer Kangta, who was at the forefront of the Korean Wave which swept Asia, is going to take a break from the entertainment business to finish his military service.

Having focused on working in China by forming the pop duo Kangta & Vanness with Taiwanese singer Vanness Wu, acting in dramas and appearing at various award shows, the former member of now-disbanded boy band H.O.T. is expected to please local fans with the new ballad album.

Kangta will also hold a solo concert at Yonsei University on March 29 to celebrate the album’s release. Because it is his first solo performance in five years and his last before joining the military, it will likely draw great attention from fans not only in Korea but also in other Asian nations such as China and Japan.

The singer plans to appear in several music programs to promote his album and meet his fans as much as possible before joining the military.

SM Entertainment said, “Kangta is currently recording and will release his solo album in March.”

Moon Hee Jun, who recently finished his military service, expects his own solo album to be released as early as March. Awaiting his departure for military training this year, Tony Ahn is also finishing up his last album before he leaves. A representative said, “Tony’s solo album is expected to be released sometime this spring.”

The 1990’s idol group HOT members are expected to battle each other out on the gayo programs.

BoA is to join a Musical with other SM Entertainment members such as: KangTa (H.O.T.), CSJH The Grace, and DBSK! It was stated on 2007/12/05 by Mr. SM that they are planning to produce a stage musical for next year. These artists are currently SM Entertainment’s biggest stars. They hope to follow in Bada, Ok Ju Hyun, Kim Tae Woo, and Andy’s success in musicals and ride out their popularity even more.

“Xandu”, a broadway musical is an “affectionate send-up” of the flop 80’s movie that starred Olivia Newton-John, is most likely to be their first show. Hopefully all ten of them will be doing it together [OMG… imagine Junsu and BoA romance for the musical?!]. Though they have not completely licensed the deal, they are still looking for a mid sized theatre that seats 600-800 people. Their only luck are such theatres like ‘M Theater’ in Sejong Center of Performing Arts or ‘The Towel Theatre’ at Seoul Arts Center. Yoo Hee Sung was asked to handle the location of the stadium, but since all major stadiums are booked, it seems like fans will have to wait till 2009! Sources say that SM Entertainment liked the idea of the musical though because the music centering around it was very pop and catchy.

Let’s hope they’re right … SM Entertainment has been looking for diversity in all kinds of ways. From modeling, voice acting, OST singing, etc… now musicals. Mr. SM has already mentioned upon several occasions to have BoA branch out into musicals, but it’s only now he’s taking real steps. He’s already bought small theatres around Korea (about four of them to be exact) so now the next step are soon coming together.

So, you know what this means folks! BoA’s going back to Korea next year! I KNEW IT! I had a feeling 2008 would be her comeback year with all her pre-comeback events in Korea lately. But to my dismay, this has been followed by mixed reviews though; CJ Entertainment’s head of performance, Kim Byung Suk, said that this will be a great opportunity to widen his branches in the market even further. But he also mentioned that the success of the musical depends on how well the singers can act and sing/stage presence, the scripts, and the stage rather than the popularity of the star or composer.

Not long time ago we read our Korean friends are worried about how bad KDramas are doing in China … so they started their reinforcement plans on the Chinese-speaking regions … we saw they dragged Kim Jeong Hoon off his last screen in Witch Amusement with his desktop computer and even stopped his music promotions in Japan to cast him off with a Dual Chinese-Korean drama production. Then joined him with Jang Nara as publicity ambassadors of Korean dramas at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in China. Not long time ago Ivy, Kangta, Son Ho Young, Mina also had Hallyu concerts in China! Now here comes the new story about Kangta! KBS annonuced that Kangta will appear in a special TV drama produced by Chinese broadcaster CCTV. SM Entertainment, said the six-episode drama will mark China’s National Day on October 1. Here is the story-line if you are interested …. I swear you can totally guess the story by yourself but here it is … drama is about three sisters and their adventures in romance. Kangta will play a top Korean singer named An Chil-hyun (Kang’s real name), who loses his memory after an accident!!!!!! Didn’t i tell you? He showed up at the announcement of the drama’s production by appearing in a traditional costume with his partner, Huang Sheng Yi, which happened to be surprising to the press!

Also let’s not forget on JunJin from Shinhwa who spent the last couple months promoting himself as a singer in China! … the latest on him is his debuting news on his first Korean Drama BYulSoonGum (a 20 episodes drama!) JunJin has done other projects like “Let’s go to the Beach” (HaeBYunoologayo), Nine Tailed Fox and “Nonstop4″! Junjin’s Character in this story is said to be about a man named KimSaYool(JunJin) that has to give payback to a young woman who killed his father! So sad huh?

and finally speaking of Hallyu in China brings only one pop boy band in mind!! That is Super Junior …. according to Sohu.com on July 20 the boys attended a charity concert held in Shanghai and only ten of the 13 Super Junior boys made it to the show. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Society of China. The Shanghai show was the last leg of a three-city charity event jointly sponsored by Cyworld.com.cn and Sohu.com. The show stopped in Beijing and Guangzhou in mid-June. Participating musicians included Chinese American singer and songwriter Lee-Hom Wang (insert a HEART here please *giggling*) and Jun Jin.

Let’s finish this post with one more news on Super Junior. It was kind of sad that Lee Teuk and GyuHyun got into a car accident couple months ago. The accident also made these two in a greater loss, due to their very bad health condition, LeeTeuk had to give his role in the new movie “Pretty Boy Terror Event Series” to Heechul. And even worse Gyuhyun wasn’t able to be in the movie because he was in more worse condition than LeeTeuk! Hopefully suju will make another movie after this and all 13 members could be in it~

Hallyu concert, with Kangta, Ivy and more, was held in China on July 11th. Celebrating the 15th year of Korea China Cultural Exchange, this event was prepared and hosted by ITFM, one of the biggest fashion malls in China promoting the ‘Global Korea Fashion / Beauty Expo’. The stage was filled with Korean celebrities, including Kangta, Ivy, Sohn Ho Young, Mina and LPG making the hottest moments. Mina also introduced her new song titled ‘Look’, along with a very sexy choreograph. Despite the fact that being on the stage in China, Ivy had one of the best performances she had on the stages. Sohn Ho Young also sang 3 of his previous hit songs when he was a member of the popular group, G.O.D. Finale was performed by Kangta, bringing up the atmosphere to the top of the level. This event lasted about 2 hours 40 minutes and was very successful.
