this is a new movie with Lee Jun Ki in it. it portrays the tragedy happened around 18-19 May 1980 called Kwang Ju Massacre. i feel like watching this movie, seems like a good one, and great cast!

Synopsis
Min-woo leads a relatively peaceful life with his younger brother – until the day the soldiers go on the rampage against the citizens. The citizens form a militia determined to protect their loved ones, and Min-woo finds himself in the middle of it all.

MAY 19. (”Hwaryeohan hyuga”) Several Korean films in the past have directly or indirectly portrayed the Kwangju Massacre of May 19, 1980 when many civilian demonstrators were killed by troops sent by the government. Among these films are Jang Sun-woo’s A Petal, Lee Chang-dong’s Peppermint Candy and Im Sang-soo’s An Old Garden, but this new film will focus more closely on the actual events leading up to May 19. The film will focus on a character named Min-woo, played by Kim Sang-kyung (Turning Gate, Memories of Murder), who becomes part of a citizen militia formed to protect demonstrators against government troops. Other well-known actors starring in this film include veteran Ahn Sung-ki, teen idol Lee Jun-ki (King and the Clown), Lee Yo-won (Take Care of My Cat), Song Jae-ho (Memories of Murder) and Na Moon-hee (You Are My Sunshine). Lee Jun-ki, star of the movie “The King and the Clown,” has caught the eye of acclaimed Chinese director Chen Kaige.MG SHOW, the agency in charge of promoting the actor in China, announced on Tuesday that Lee had met with Chen at the Shanghai International Film Festival last Saturday, at which Chen was a juror.

Chen proposed that the two make a film together in China, which Lee thought was a great idea. “I’d love to make the movie if the script is good and the character is right,” Lee said.

Chen’s proposal is understood to be more than just lip-service. The Chinese director thinks highly of Korean actors, having worked with Jang Dong-gun in his movie “The Promise” in 2005. The project can also count on Lee’s extraordinary popularity in China.

Lee, who became one of the leading stars of the Korean wave with his performances in “The King and the Clown” and the drama “My Girl,” has become tremendously popular in China, with over 300,000 members signed up with his fan club.

During his recent visit to Shanghai, a mob of fans in a convoy of some 20 vehicles chased the actor along a highway, at times making some dangerous moves. Lee said the chase was like a scene from a movie, but added that he’s grateful for his Chinese fans’ avid support.

Lee attended the Shanghai International Film Festival after wrapping up shooting in Thailand on “Time Between Dog and Wolf”, which is scheduled to be broadcast next month. He took home the Top Foreign Star Award along with Hollywood screen goddess Sharon Stone.

As if the hair was not shocking enought they threw in a Tattoo to his image too! i like these cast and crew of the “Time of the dog and the wolf” movie/drama (whatever that is) for giving this guy a more manly image that he has been killing to gain. In my opinion after the king and clown, not even playing as a gigolo in “mygirl” saved him till here they gave him that neat haircut! *whispering* but that is one retarded tattoo!

wait seems like it is a Drama from MBC and the production team are from CJ entertainments! From what i understand seems like Junki is playing a guy in National Intelligence Service and gets into trouble with a violent organization in Thailand and then loses the memory! It sure is a drama LOL!

Korean star Lee Joon-ki is once again showing his generous side, donating some of his personal belongings for an auction in Thailand. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Tapasa Foundation, the Thai royal family’s foundation.

Lee donated his DVD collection, sunglasses and hat to the Korea-Thailand Cultural Center (KTTC), which will hold the auction.

Lee was quoted as saying, he donated the items in hopes of raising money for the Thai royal family’s foundation which helps the poor people of Thailand.

Around 5,000 Thai fans attended Lee’s promotional event at the Central World in Bangkok on June 8. He also sold 200 specially designed necklaces at 1,200 baht each. There was also a special draw, where five lucky fans won a chance to have dinner with the actor.

This is not the first time Lee has donated for a good cause. During Christmas and Chuseok holiday last year, he donated money to a Korean organization helping children who are heads of households.

Lee was in Thailand to film the MBC drama “Time between Dog and Wolf” which will be aired in July. His popularity in Thailand has been increasing because of his film “King and the Clown” and drama “My Girl.”

Meanwhile, Lee will be given the Top Foreign Star Award at the 10th Shanghai Film Festival on June 16. He will personally attend the festival, which attracts stars from around the world.
