Korea’s most renowned singer Park Hyo Shin has been charged by InterStage for $3 million in a breach of contract.
On Jan. 31, InterStage filed a $3 million law suit against Park Hyo Shin to make up for the “loss in profit” due to a breach in contract.
This outrageous accusation stems from the latest issue of power struggles between artists and recording companies that try to take advantage of these individuals. Park Hyo Shin is not alone. Recently, Chae Dong Ha decided to leave SG Wannabe because his company did not allow him to branch out into acting, musicals and other creative endeavors.
The suit outlines that on July 21, 2006, Hyo Shin signed a $1 million contract to release 4 consecutive albums in the next 4 years. However, after the release of his 5th album on Jan. 2007, he ended all contact with his manager and obstructed the activities of the management company. He also canceled many of his concerts during his national tour.
The management company erroneously accuses Park Hyo Shin of a breach in contract without looking at their poor treatment of their artist. Hyo Shin made a comeback in 2007 after 3 years, transforming his vocal style and image.
However, due to his busy concert schedule and work-related stress, he was plagued with bad health and lack of sleep. He finally collapsed during a concert rehearsal and was taken to the hospital. Doctors were afraid that he would damage/lose his voice if he did not get some rest.
Of course, the “heartless” Interstage company did not see a bed-ridden star as a human being in need of care but rather as a “profit loss.”
After his hospitalization, Hyo Shin continued to take medication and visit the hospital constantly between rehearsals.
