Since there are so many different stories going around I will just sum up what I have heard. There is this questionable My Daily article that I have yet to see myself because every time I go to the link nothing is there; but the rumor begins here. Supposedly a reporter received information from a “close friend” of Hee Chul stating that the Super Junior member Kim Hee Chul and pop singer Ivy have been dating for about a month now. This would lead me to believe that Ivy is the mystery girl Hee Chul has had a crush on since April of last year. Around the time of the press conference for the new drama Golden Bride in which Hee Chul will be appearing he said that he has feelings for a girl and he has liked this person since last year and that him and fellow Super Junior member Kangin were planning a event for her in which he would confess his feelings.

Both Artists have openly denied that there is any relationship between them and that there is truth behind this story. An incident even occurred where Hee Chul’s friend Goh Hyun Bin left a message on his cyworld asking who is this special friend in regards to the one that spoke with reporters. And again the reps of both artists are denying the story. For Hee Chul’s camp they say he doesn’t even have her number and Ivy’s camp says she is too busy preparing for her charity concert. She hasn’t been getting sleep and she even burst a capillary in her eye from not getting rest.

I personally don’t think that anything is going on between Hee Chul and Ivy. However my problem is with Hee Chul. I am a fan of him as an actor and member of Super Junior but something about him has been bugging me in regards to this latest group of stories. I myself am going into my mid twenties and have learned enough to know that if a guy is interested in a girl he is going to try and holla. I don’t buy the whole afraid of rejection excuse that he claims is the reason for his delay in approaching this female. I just don’t believe it. Maybe you haven’t been around enough dudes but I know that even guys with low self-esteem or lack of confidence will somehow someway work their way into a girl. If anything this rejection sh@#! is a ruse, I’m just not beat for it. Another thing is Hee Chul digs himself into deeper holes by continuing to run his mouth. The rumor last year was “he’s gay.” Why, because he was on shows like Ya Shim Man Man, X-Man, and Golden Fishery talking about how girls annoy him and if you NEED PROOF I will dig up the youtube clips. Matter of fact I will post them so you can hear the words directly from him and know where I receive my conclusions. Then after all that went down he tries to counterattack this by saying what girls he is attracted to. Not that that’s not normal but he only did this after the fact and now a year later he is having problems again. My advice to Hee Chul-Shi is “keep your mouth SHUT!!” you go on your cyworld spilling all the wrong business and you go on these variety shows and spill your business. Zip Your Lips, its not like we can say anything to you even of you were dating someone so why feel the need to always explain yourself.

Some Korean entertainers try to escape military conscription by pledging medical conditions making them unsuitable for conscription while one other Korean entertainer knowing he has a knee injury but still went ahead with conscription for the fear from accusation of using his medical condition as an excuse. Most Korean entertainers under 35, try very hard to maintain their registration as students, thus, bidding time to further their careers.

It was rumoured that Rain changed university recently so as to maintain his status as a student. Kangta who is another due for military conscription is holding on tight to his student status. Last month, Kim Rae Won has requested for the second time to defer his military conscription because he has just starting with shooting of his new drama. Apparently, his first notice of conscription was received while he was filming another drama then but he did not know what happened to the notice and continue with his career.

While Jo In sung who was thrown out of Dongguk University a couple of months back for not meeting the minimum number of hours, has also been rumoured to be conscripted by end of this year. Rumour has it he received his conscription after filming A Dirty Carnival last May but he started going back to school. Looking at Jo In Sung´s schedule from since he finished with the above 44th Daejong nominee for Best Film category, he has not committed to any film or drama to his fans´ consternation. His ardent fans are hoping he would act in a drama s to tie them over his impending two years in the mandatory military service.

Song Seun Hun (from Autumn Tale or Autumn in my Heart with Song Hye Gyo, Summer Scent, Happy Together fame) had to apologise to his fans for trying to dodge military service but his fans have since forgiven him with a resounding welcome back meeting last year. Fans from all over Asia went for the meeting, even a sole representative fan from Malaysia flew there for the meeting.

However not all Korean entertainers are/were dodging the dreaded military service. Yoon Gye Sang, formerly from the boyband, G.O.D; Korean drama: My 19 years sister in law (with the late Jung Da Bin) and Korean movie: Flying Boys (in which he won the best newcomer in 2005 Paesang Art Award) did not defer his responsibility even though he was signed on to work with the perennial favourite Korean actress, Lee Young Ae then. He even earned a star for good marksmanship and received a citation from the division commander after completing his boot training and was despatched to a reconnaissance company as a sniper. On his release, Yoon Gye Sang acted in the SBS drama “Crazy for Love” aired on Feb. 3, 2007.

Others who have done their tour of duty last year were Jang Hyuk (Korean movie: Windstruck and recently ended 2007 Korean drama: Thank you), Go Soo (Korean dramas: Green Rose, Marrying a Millionaire, Piano fame), etc. And of course, So Ji Sub (Sorry I love you, What happen in Bali fame) done his entertainment brothers proud by completing his, two months ago in April. Looking back, these korean actors are very much in demand after doing military service. Jang Hyuk and So Jib Sub were immediately recruited to act in new korean dramas. So perhaps, they should view the compulsory conscription as a blessing in disguise as they immediately become hot properties on their emergence from the two years forced absences. Ji Seong (aka Ji Sung) who has just completed his tour last week has in a minor role in a movie.

Kim Jeong Hoon who so far, as the only actor who publicly said that he dreaded military service after acting in DMZ in 2004, should be due for national service anytime.

(Oh, I am saying the following in jest, please do not quote me) He might be a Thai citizen by then! I wonder how are dual citizenships viewed in Korea? Any idea?

Psy quizzed over army draft evasion

Popular singer Park Jae-sang, better known as Psy, was yesterday questioned over his alleged evasion of military conscription at a seoul prosecuters’ office.
“I’ll fully cooperate with the prosecution interrogation,” said Park wearing a gray suit as he entered the Seoul Eastern Prosecutors’ Office.

Prosecutors suspect Park, 29, neglected his duty as a worker at a high-tech company in Seoul, where workers are exempt from the country’s 24-month-long mandatory military duty.

“We’re currently verifying various suspicions, including whether or not the singer Psy actually has the special skills as a computer programmer that exempted him from military conscription,” said Han Myong-kwan, a senior prosecutor.

Park was hired to develop computer software at the information technology firm, but prosecutors have doubts of his capability of doing the work given to him.

“We’ve heard that he is bad at handling computers,” Han said.

The government exempts technology researchers and professional skilled workers with special expertise under the condition of working for some 18,000 companies designated by the Seoul Military Manpower Administration.

However, when asked about his slackness at work between 2003 and 2005 by reporters, Park denied the allegation, saying “yes” that he worked properly from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 30 months.

Prosecutors are also investigating the alleged bribery charges between Park’s uncle and the company Park had worked.

“We will soon summon his uncle as well,” Han said.

Since April, prosecutors questioned two other popular singers who were exempted from conscription after they were hired by a computer game development company.

They also summoned some 20 officials from six companies and 10 soccer players in the same case. Those companies are alleged to have violated the rules, and some allegedly hired company executives’ relatives and acquaintances.

I have been thinking a lot lately since some have said that all we post is rumors so in order to get things straight all rumors will be posted under the RUMORS category. Now what exactly is considered a rumor. The Oxford Essential Dictionary American Edition states: n. general talk or hearsay of doubtful accuracy. Wikipedia definiton:

A rumor (U.S.) or rumour (elsewhere, see spelling differences) is a piece of purportedly true information that circulates without substantiating evidence. The information content of rumors can range from simple gossip to advanced propaganda techniques.

Classically, rumors spread from person to person by word of mouth, as in gossip. Cheap postage rates and then telephone services fomented the pace and range of the swirling of rumors. With the advent of the Internet many rumors have started to spread via email and more recently through blogging, as also occurs with various hoaxes, and urban legends.

While many rumors begin or continue to spread as a part of natural human communication that occurs when people discuss something they find funny or interesting, some are started in an intentional attempt to disseminate specific information. Viral marketing campaigns often depend on rumors, as do many political endeavors. Some people in very public positions find rumors very troublesome, annoying or embarrassing, when real or imaginary details about the personal lives they would prefer to keep private start to spread among people who are interested in them. Rumors can have a powerful motivational aspect on those who believe in them – among stock traders, for example, hearing a rumor from a trusted source can lead one to believe that one now has inside information. As rumors spread without corraborating evidence, it’s not unusual for those who have heard the rumor to look for some on their own – a rumor about a celebrity’s sexual preferences, for example, may cause those who hear it to start judging the celebrity’s behavior against known stereotypes. Some rumors can be particularly outlandish or bizarre, such as the persistent claims that the singer Elvis Presley still lives or that the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler had but a single testicle (there is in fact some evidence for this; see Adolf Hitler’s medical health).

Rumors in plays are also a popular means of introducing a play, often called an Induction. In Henry IV, Part 2, one of Shakespeare’s histories, rumor is used to twist and complicate the plot, to narrate in a way that does not have to state truth nor fact within the play, but lie and concoct the characters’ whereabouts and their actions.

Poets have personified rumor as an abstract, demi-god-like figure, Rumor, since at least Roman times. “She” is the source of endless trouble in Virgil’s Aeneid.

In the financial markets rumour is rife with unfounded statements such as the dollar is going to crash or the price of gold will explode or the price of oil will explode. These are usually all based not on scientific information but on speculation and hype that various events will occur and so forth thus approximating to rumour. These type of rumours should not be used to make important financial decisions if uninformed.

Okay everybody read that, so now you can’t point out and say “Hey thats just a rumor” or post on other forums saying “Hey all they post is rumors” because it will be in the RUMORs section and therefore already be acknowledged as a RUMOR.

Now down to business, I remember hearing here and there that Lil’ Jon was training this Korean girl and that she is/was supposed to be coming out with an American album. I wasn’t sure if she was Korean or Korean American and since then I haven’t heard anything else. I was searching youtube.com for traditional Chinese dances (another story) and then decided to look at some African American dances. Then I searched for Hip-Hop dancing and then Crunk/Crump dancing and came upon Min. Seriously, I searched just like that and videos of her came out under Crunk. Korean, American Musicians Promote 15-Year-Old Korean Newcomer’s Debut in U.S. Music Scene

JYP Entertainment Group recently announced that Park Jin-young, the head of JYP USA, and the American famous hip-hop producer Lil Jon, discovered a Korean teenage newcomer to produce and market a record in the United States.

The Korean teenager ‘Min’, whose full name is Lee Min-young and was born in Korea, boldly dedicated herself to breaking through the U.S. music market.

When Min was a teenager in 2001, JYP heard about her musical and dancing talents, she was selected by the company for two years of training. She won an award in a December 2003 competition shown on a Korean television station with Korean singer ‘Rain’ and shared the stage with him, which gave her the opportunity to showcase her talents.

After her success in Korea, Min went to Los Angeles and New York for two years of voice, dance, language and other kinds of training and participated in a televised ‘dance battle.’ She is currently in New York, working with Park to record and produce her debut single which she plans in the first half of next year.

A JYP official said, “Major record studios and producers decide to collaborate. They decided that Lil Jon’s style is compatible with Min’s in terms of goals and style. That’s why they decided to work together.”

“Korean singers have lately been looking at the U.S. market as a challenge to boost their musical careers for those who haven’t made their debuts in Korea as teenagers and view that as an opportunity to break into the American music market,” the official added.

Park said, “For the past three years, I was the first Asian composer to participate in the production of such albums of major American pop start such as Mase, Will Smith and Cassie. Therefore, I believe that I am increasingly establishing my credibility as a music producer.” He added, “Based on that foundation, I am confident that Min and other JYP singers’ entry into the U.S. market would be much more solid.”

On Dec. 23, Min, Park and Lil Jon will be giving a press conference and attend ‘Rain’s’ concert later that evening.

In 2004, Park and Lil Jon became close through their work with the hip-hop duo Outkast. After Lil Jon saw a demonstration tape of Min, he suggested to Park that the two collaborate together on producing a single.

Those are the only videos I found even typing ‘Korean Singer Min’ as a search string. Now if you want to know why this is under rumors even thought there is an article on it is because I haven’t heard anything new or anything else about her so is she debuting or not and is she still training under Lil’ Jon. I mean if she has a website let us know or if there is anyway to get in contact with her let us know. Edit, okay so there are more…I will just post the ones I find interesting; boy wish I had a Korean Translator right about now.
