The Real Docu Big Bang

Big Bang is back..but not with music or anything. They are back with their documentary..the one they had before their debut. Their documentary will be aired in 15 Asian countries starting on the Aug. 10th..so those of you living in those countries are so lucky!! The 15 countries have not been announced, by the way…

“The Real Docu Big Bang” documentary will be talking about their trainee days and back when they still had So-1. It is also scheduled to air on a music channel everyday during the evening prime time hours. YG says this will help promote them in overseas activities. The 10-part documentary will show intense training and how it’s different from those other “star wannabes” shows and will focus on some “sensational events” and the other side of the Big Bang members.

I guess it’s because se7en’s sad that he’s not performing in Korea… Last week on 7/7 Se7en came to me at his concert and asked if we could release the “All Night” MV that we filmed 2 years ago with Ivy.

Although we spent a lot of money on producing the music video we didn’t release this one because I didn’t like it ㅜㅜ (ShenYue: why are you being so selfish?)

Because of Se7en’s request, as soon as I came back to Seoul I took out the music video that we filmed and produced a remix version.

Although it was a long time ago, I want to thank Ivy for acting in the music video, and I hope it was a pleasant gift to you fans as Se7en had hoped for. (ShenYue: It sure was!)

Later this year we are planning to release Se7en’s first American album. So far we have 6 songs completely recorded, 2 of which Rich Harrison produced. The new producing team is “Noise Trip”, a team that produced Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie’s solo album. Although they are a new producing team, Mark Shimmel recommended them and I see a huge potential in them. Rich Harrison’s songs are Hip Hop, and Noise Trip’s songs are medium-tempo R&B. (ShenYue: God please send mercy upon us!)

Mark Shimmel, who worked with Usher, T.L.C., and Toni Braxton, and Rich Harrison, producer of Beyonce’s Crazy in Love, and Fabolous, who was #1 on the Billboard Charts a couple of weeks ago…. they are all people who have helped with producing Se7en’s American album…

I think that I will be able to also give surprising news soon….
A couple of days ago I heard that one of America’s best producers, who I have admired since I was in my 20s, is Se7en’s new producer. ㅜㅜ

I can’t believe it myself.. (ShenYue: what are you talking about? who?)

Not only is it hard even for famous American singers to have this producer work with them, but also the music industry in America is revolving around this producer, and the singers who work with this producer receive a lot of attention.

It is great news, but I’m sorry that I cannot reveal this producer’s name yet, due to the wishes of the producer’s company. I think that I will be able to tell you who it is soon^^

Se7en will be in Japan until the end of this month, and will be returning to America in August… he probably won’t be coming back to Seoul this year.

How Did Se7en Become Se7en?!

I always wanted to have this interview up … i know it’s kinda late for this but it’s one of the rare occasions we have the English translation of an interview he did about his past Here goes our boy Se7eN

host: All the women I know said that they all admire and like you.
7: Thank you.
host: You must have one of these when you come to meet 7. (the rollershoes) I got these for you. 7:oh thank you.

host: When did you first make the decision to become a singer?
7: Well, I’d say 1992, elementary school 3rd grade (I think it’s 2nd or 3rd)
*laughter*
when I first saw Seo Taiji and Boys perform “I Know” (they started k-pop btw)
7: “Oh, there is a thing this great. I too want to be a singer.” that’s what I thought.
host: When you thought that, did your parents agree with you?
7: Honestly, my parents did nag because I didn’t study but I actually did well when I studied really hard the night before a test but I hated studying. You know, honestly, I didn’t think bookwork was right for me. It was little bit of a bore.
host:*laughter* Aren’t you being a little too honest?
7: So I guess around middle school, 8th grade I started backing away for studies. It was too hard.
host: So what your saying is that you wanted to study but you didn’t have time.
7: yes exactly. No, I mean, when I did study I was good at it.
host: You do look like you would of do well if you study.
7: No, it was just the time that I used for studying that was boring. But if I really go at it, I study. It was just like the math probelms and stuff, I hated doing.
host: Now, you’re number 1 right now in the music charts, you are Se7en. I don’t think that just happened overnight.
7: No, but really, the time was so long.(pre-debut) I started training from when I was a 7th grader in middle school.
host: Do you really think it was a long period?
7: It depends on how you think. If you think it was a long period, it seems long. if you think it was a short period, it seems short. But really it wasn’t a short period. It was almost 5 years really to debut. It was like 5 years seemed more like 50 years. yeah. At that time I was immature, at the time I thought that I would debut after 6 months or like an year.
This is the first time I’m telling anyone this but before I came here (yg entertainment), I was at another entertainment company, as a 7th grader. So from 7th grade to 8th grade I was there. I recorded an album in 6 months. And without even an years’ worth of training, my actual cd came out. It wasn’t released yet, but it was still pending. So I thought “wow, it’s this is really easy” but a few days before the debut, there was some trouble and my contract broke.
7: I think that experience was a good one though because I really felt a lot of things, and like I told you b4 that I thought “Oh wow, becoming a singer is this easy”, that kind of mentality was turned around for the better. So I thought, it’s going to a long and harsh journey but what if my cd did come out, then I would have been a real undeserving(even a word?;p) person.
host: do u think, hey if my cd came out then i would have been famous from then on and it would have been better.
7: Ah, no, even if the cd came out and I was sucessful, I might have turned into an arrogant person.

7: So from all the ent. companies, I thought through, I ended up here and i met YSH here in this studio.
Host: Was the first time you met him good?
7: At that time, the only words he spoke to me was “You’re better than I thought”
host: I know how YHS is a little, but if he actually spoke those words to you, it’s a great compliment.
7: Yeah, thinking about it now, it’s rare because even now I don’t get those compliments from him. I’ve never heard a single compliment from him these days. The first thing he said, really the 1st words he spoke to me when he first saw me was “You look pretty” <-- like how you would say to a baby girl. 7:He said ... Are u new here? Yes. What do you know how to do? Sing. Um, I'll sing. So I sang

host: What did u sing?
7: R. Kelly’s I believe i can fly.
7: Yeah so when I was done he said, “You’re better than I thought” So I was really happy so from the next day on, i was officially in.
host: so from that next day til now is three years?
7: 3 and a half. From that next day and for the first 6 months, I did nothing but clean these floors.
host: wow, this is the floor 7 cleaned.
7:Yeah, well they changed these wood floorings now, it wasn’t as good as it is now. The lighting also wasn’t even working right.
7:I really wanted to sing. I wanted to sing so bad, but no one was teaching me how to sing, they were just making me do all the cleaning around here. They only taught me to dance.
So back then I really hesitated. “From the way it looks right now, there will be no singing career for me. I’ll just end up cleaning forever until i quit.”
7: So after 1 year, YHS said he wanted to meet my parents and that was the actual start for me.
host: so in that first year, when did you most feel that if u made a mistake it would have cost u you’re chance of becoming who you are today?
7:Oh, there was a time of course. At the time I felt mixed feelings. There was a group of older guys that went from here to another company and debut real quickly and became overnight celebrities. So i felt like “wow, when will I ever get the chance to be on tv.” I always saw them on tv, in the spotlight, and it felt like just a few days when all of us were scrubing these floors together. Deep down I was very envious, very envious.
host: So it wasn’t an effortless thing becoming a singer, do u yourself think that?
7: of course, in the eyes of others, they think that it was easy for me, that all this was overnight but that’s not wrong i guess b/c that’s what it looks like on the outside anyway but really on the inside there was a lot of pain, it was what i felt by myself so when they say thoses things in their point of view, it hurt my feelings.
host: so after your contract w/ yg, what did u learn?
7: The only thing I learned from yg, well if u can even say that i learned was dance.
host: If u say that doesn’t that makeYHS a little … heartbroken hehe
7: No, he must hear this (joking)
host: y do u think that?
7: There was no solid thing that i learned really like the vocals and stuff.
host: This is an absolute boot camp style, am i wrong?
7:No really, that’s why my training time b4 debuting was so long. But this is what i heard he said, that he wanted to make me more human (mature). And that as much as u suffered in return the happiness will be twice as greater. It’s true. But honestly, i think that if I was taught vocals (singing) a little bit more and better, I would be a better singer now
But since there was that kind of troublesome for me, I learn to deal with it by practicing singing on my own, and anyway if you learn to sing from someone else, you’re not going to have your own style, so I think in that matter i found my true colors, so I just want to start learning from now on.

Why is he name after a number?

Ah, the puzzling question everyone has when they first hear about Se7en. Before his debut, his company have thought about the possible stage name (from letters to numbers, including 7) that would be suitable for Choi Dong Wook. While eating a restaurant with YG, they noticed there were 7 pieces of radish kimchi. So, they confirmed Se7en’s name from that. He is also the 7th member to debut in YG Entertainment.

His real name is Yang Hyun Suk aka Yang Goon which YG stands for. He is a Korean former singer & rapper of a “Seo Taiji & Boys” after the group disbanded in January 1996 instead of solo career he establish YG Entertainment In 1998.

Seven’s 747 concert last saturday has ended successfully. Thank you to everyone who attended.. bows~ [ *looking around* YG BOWS? SE7ENS FANS? What is this a dream?]
I felt weird to see Seven performing on stage again. [ why? ]
I kept thinking that this might be the last time for awhile to see seven on stage. T T [Oh, Don't cry YG man, Ken cha na Yo, at least you can see the guy every day T_T look at us!]
Seven will be going to Japan for two months, June and July, for his promotion and will be staying in America for awhile.
Not so long ago, Seven’s song which we were going to put on his single album was leaked. We got the information that they were passing it on the Djs and somehow got up on the internet.
There’s been a better news, Seven will be making new songs with famous singers and famous producers and things have been getting better. [ehmm a question! Mr. YG man...Have You EVer Kept A secret?]
Seven’s 2007 747 DVD will be released around June.
We will include Seven’s remix songs and will include a CD with the DVD. We will include the LALALA remix before so that you guys won’t get bored of waiting. [ I already put the remix on the blog! ]

LEXY

We introduced a new song during Seven’s concert.
Lexy’s new title song “above the sky” has received a good amount of support.
I’m really nervous to let out Lexy’s 3rd album because after Lexy’s 3rd album gets released, we’ll be letting out new YG female singers. [OH YEAH?]
We focused more on Lexy’s rapping this time. “above the skies” is a fast beat hip hop song. We put little mixes in so that it’ll be more entertaining. I’m happy with his song and the music video is coming out great too. [Great! great! YG sees everything GREAT! pfewwww]
We saw that other female singers are going with the ballad so we had lexy’s song fast and fun to listen too. Also, the album’s title is “Rush” ^^ [what's with the face?]
Lexy’s 3rd album will be let out april 19th and she will appear first through MBC music core on the 21st. We will also let out the video. [ you mean release it? hahahaha LET OUT?]
Lexy went through a hard time after her 2nd album not being so good
but i have a good feeling about this one. ^^ [You have a good feeling about everything DOnCH ya?]

PARKBOM

Park Bom’s first album is planned to come out this fall, but we are thinking of releasing a song and few pictures around May.
We are first going to release it through online, Parkbom’s title song has been made by Park Jin Young and it’s called “Scarecrow”. This is probably the first time a YG singer sings a song made by JYP. ["SCARE CROW? OMG!!!!!! you guys know that I always call JYP scarecrow right! Mommy .. her reads my blog? WHAT TO DO?! hahahhahhahah]
I’m close with JYP, DJ DOC, and Psy but a few months ago, i was joking around with JYP and asked him to write a song for park bom but he really did. For free too. ^^ [OH SO THAT"S WHAT IS GOING ON! see i told you ppl, YG sleeps with his Piggy bank! see I'm right!] I felt that being a sunbae was really nice but when I meet Psy it’s not so pleasent. He always asks me to eat out and I’m the one that has to pay T T [ I really feel you man! with kinda character you have .. probbaly you have nightmares the whole week after that! O.o]

Anyways, when i first heard “scarecrow” i felt it was going to be good. It has a great feeling of Park Jin Young and a very nice SLOW song. [anddddddddd IT'S FREE]
He has completed this in between his busy schedule but i never had the chance to say thanks so i’d like to take this time to say thank you to Park Jin Young.

Oh yeah~ One day, Park Jin Young called me from America and said “Hyung~ this is big news.” He says that Kim Gun Mo will be releasing a song named “scarecrow” too. We were going to change it but deceided to leave it alone.
It’s an honor for Park Bom…^^

Kim Jieun

I’ll like to thank everyone who participated it naming Kim Jieun. I was suprised at how much support she received.

The sad news is, we didn’t get the chande to pick her name. I’m so sorry for the delay of her debute. We picked three people who participated in the name picking and we’ll send them a i-pop nano, Big bang’s sign CD and Lexy’s sign CD…
I personally went out and bought the MP3 player… ^^
Although we don’t have a name for her, we’ll be releasing her beginning of May.
YG’s only actor GoHaeSun has contributed on KimJiEun’s m/v I met the producer and he says the they went to Busan and filmed for two days and it was really hard. I heard GuHaeSun was sick afterwards. [notch notch notch]

I told her that it’ll be a easy scene… I think I have to avoide Haesun for awhile T T
KimJiEun has contributed in Lexy’s song too but she has featured in a lot of YG artist songs. She has the ability to freely sing high and low tones. She is well prepared for live stages
We have three m/v so far including the m/v we let out awhile ago. Currently, we are planning to have “AhnDweNaYo” as the title song which has been composed by LeeJunHyun and KimJiEun, herself.
It’s already been 4 years since she’s been in YG T T
she’s finally debuting.

Lexy, park bom and kim jieun will be coming out between a month
please support them!
